Ablation - long term

I'm on waiting list for an ablation and just wonder if anyone knows if there are any long term implications following an ablation.

if successful then fantastic , chances are you may need more than one go at it - and I am sure that the risks of the procedure have been well explained to you. Hope all goes well with you and its a case of first time lucky.

Yes. Mr AF will leave you for some other woman though occasionally this philanderer will return. Don't let him in - a second ablation will probably send him packing for good.....

Just that its great to be able to plan holidays and outings without the worry that an episode will lay you low and you have to cancel things. Hope all goes well and you don't have to wait too long.

Hi Jackie, Thanks for that. Yes it's difficult at the moment. I'm off to France on 3 March and obviously wonder if and when it will 'strike' - on the ferry, when I'm driving, when I'm enjoying a meal and a glass of wine (most likely, I guess!) I think I'm on 2 waiting lists and I know that one of them is for 12 months, the other is only 3 months, but I'm not 100% certain I am on that one, but fingers crossed. I guess you've had it done and so it's good to see you are now so positive. Thanks again. Tricia

Hi Tricia, yes had mine done about 8 years ago and apart from a couple of spells just after the op which is quite normal everything going ok. Best of luck I hope you dont have to wait too long. Have a good time in France. J

Just make sure you maximise the chances of success by identifying what might cause your AF in the first place and eliminating that.

Thanks. I just wish I knew what triggers my AF - I've got a feeling it's tension/anxiety, but it can be as minimal as watching a drama on TV, even Strictly! Difficult to avoid when it is at such a low level - but, I try. Thanks again.
