Anyone else ever feel like giving up? Had a bad day.

Just feel I need a moan. I was at docs this morning as I have ongoing stomach pain. I had an op for diverticulosis a couple of years ago so she's going to speak to bowel surgeon to see what tests I need. Next... I had an ablation at the end of October and after the first three weeks during which time I continued to have AF episodes every day, I had five weeks free until today. Looks like it may not have worked.I was in AF for three hours. Went out for a drive with my sister anyway and on way home heart jumped back into nsr so was pleased with that. Next... Just as I got out of car my foot caught in her handbag handle and I fell out on my hands and knees onto the road! I hit my rather nasty varicose vein on the road which immediately swelled up and I knew it had bled inside. On Apixaban so straight off to A & E. 😱 Was there for hours until after measuring leg hourly and putting bandage on to compress it they finally decided I wasn't in any danger of bleeding to death and let me go home. Lying on couch now with leg up and feeling sorry for myself! Hence the loooong moan!!! Feel I've had more than my fair share of bad luck. If you've read this far then a big thank you!

Well said Mr.B 😀

I think you deserve a moan after all that. Heck, I'm ready to moan along with you after reading about it. I have several health issues along with the afib, and it does seem that they attack in twos and threes. It's never one thing at a time. I have to tell you that I get quite ugly when this happens. I don't do well with on going pain.

So when I'm suffering and those around me are suffering this is what I do. I do the regular things that people advise such as one day at a time or one hour. Sounds trite, but works. Baby your self a little....I have very hot bubble baths, a special treat to eat, rent movies and watch for hours. In other words I distract myself.

If you're up to it, reaching out to others will also help you. Spend time with people who make you laugh and if you are a person of faith, prayer works.

My ablation was five years ago and after a few kinks, it's been great. Then came the diabetes, osteoarthritis , hypertension, and asthma . It's a party.

Good luck to you!

I also find that a long hot bath rests my heart and my body and makes me feel so much better

Just had to say I understand how you feel. Sometimes just a bit alone and just a lot fed-up. But then tomorrow comes and with it comes all sorts of opportunity.

How really demoralising for you, I think you can add one more to your list a large dose of being a human being, and sometimes that is the most difficult condition of all to deal with. The best remedy for that, and it does work, is to understand that you are not alone. Hope the movie was good!

I know the feeling....just when you think you are taking a few good healthy steps forward you go backwards ten. Keep up the good fight....one day at a time. I understand how defeated you may feel. Don't give up.......

Thank you all so much for listening to my rant and taking the time to reply. It really does help when you are feeling bad and can hear from people who 'get it'.

I put my sensible head on today and do feel a lot better. Things could always be worse, I know. Or as Bob says, I'm not dead yet!!! ;-)

Thanks again, Judy.

And just because you had one AF episode does not necessarily mean ablation failed. I had various arrhythmias for 5 months and then stopped. That was two years ago and fine since. So stay positive and good luck 🍀
