CARDIOVERSION

I HAVE JUST HAD MY SECOND CARDIO (MONDAY 16 NOVEMBER) HAD TO STAY IN HOSPITAL OVER NIGHT FOR MONITORING AS I AM ON CPAP MACHINE . ON THE LAST OPERATION I HAD WHICH WAS ON MY STOMACH IN MAY THIS YEAR I WAS TOLD THAT HAVING ANY FURTHER ANAESTHETIC COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS AS TO REGARDING MY HEART CONDITION-( HAD HEART ATTACK, GOT HEART DISEASE, STENT FITTED,SUFFER ANGINA, LEAKING VALVE). HAVING ANAESTHETIC FOR THIS CARDIOVERSION HAS REALLY MADE ME POORLY. VERY BREATHLESS,PAIN IN CHEST, FEELING DIZZY, WEAK AND SICK.

SIXTH DAY AFTER PROCEDURE FEELING A LITTLE BETTER BUT STILL NOT WELL ENOUGH TO DO MUCH OR WALKING OUT.

HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE THIS, I AM IN NORMAL HEART BEAT NOW AS THE PROCEDURE WORKED FIRST TIME ( DO NOT KNOW FOR HOW LONG?) LAST TIME I HAD IT IT LASTED NINE MONTHS.

WOULD LIKE TO HEAR ANYONES COMMENTS.

Glad it was successful. Did they give you a GA or sedation?

Bit late now but may help if there is another time is that you can have the cardioversion under sedation which may make you feel less crap. At least you can ask.

Hi - I just wondered how you are feeling now? I've had lots of cardioversions, all with a general anaesthetic and have never felt how you describe you're feeling. However, I haven't had the heart problems that you have.

hi-jean thank you for your response the last time i had cardioconversion two years ago i had a g.a. and was fine afterwards but since then i have had four operations (stomach) each time i had a spinal block and was told by my consultant on the last operation that he had had a request stating it would be classed as dangerous to proceed with further operations concerning the use of anaesthetics having adverse effect regarding my heart condition. This was mentioned at my cardio but was told i would be o. k. because of it only being a small dose!

regards.
