I am to have my second cardioversion next week and was after some advice on how best to recover for the best result. Do I total rest or carry on as normal. Is exercise out of the question. I value your opinions!

You mustn't drive for two days (GA) by which time you will feel fine. If it works it works. If not then plan B. Gentle exercise is always good. Stupid endorphine chasing is bad.

Well you did ask.

Bob

Actually I believe the advice is no driving for 24 hrs. I've had 14 dc cardioversions and have just felt a bit ' wiped out:' after each for a little while but fine after a good nights sleep. If it works you will feel very relieved to be back in normal rhythm .

If you engage in strenuous exercise it might be prudent to ease up for a few days.

Good luck!

Take it easy for the next day or two, no driving for 24 hours after anesthesia. What was your exercise tolerance before? After I had been in NSR for 72 hours I asked my EP when I should return to my 10,000 steps / day (approx 4.5 miles) and he said NOW!

Talk with your EP about your best plan for you!

Three or four days rest - though didn't make much difference in my case as I went back into persistent A+F 24 hours later.

I was told no driving for 24 hours post anaesthetic and then as long as I felt ok i could return to the gym immediately

Was told dont drive for 24 hours and rest during that time .

Once the anesthetic wore off I felt fine .

By the way Ive just two within a fortnight and had no worries about it second time around

Thanks everyone, that has answered my query. looks like I will be ok to go away for a few day three days afterwards. I knew I could rely on you, I never see my EP.
