All cats are animals, but not all animals are cats - same with arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. Arrests are caused by arrhythmias but not all arrhythmias cause arrests. Don't think Afibbers are doomed quite yet.

It's when the ventricles play up that you might have a problem- not AF!!

We are all doomed. Life is a terminal condition and no one gets out of it alive.

The question is how we deal with it before it gets terminal. You want to be miserable? Just hold onto your worries. You want to be happy? Be careful, be wise, and don't worry.

(I know this sounds sappy but it gets me through the tough spots.)

If you cannot stop worrying then I would suggest you seek out some help and support, CBT will help you, go see your GP and tell him. Worrying causes stress at the cellular levels which in turn can cause further illness but worse than that it will paralyse you so you stop living. As soon as you stop living you start dying.

At some time you are going to die, as we all are. We just don't know how, when or where. The chances of being attacked and killed by a wild lion in the UK are probably higher than you having an AF induced cardiac arrest.

Laughter and endorphins are the best antidote to worry so go find something that gives you pleasure and makes you life - that is really good for you!

Should I be worrying about wild lions? :D

Eatsalottie well done......one line and you summed it up and made me chuckle .....basically we are all crew in the AF ship of old with a large sign ahead saying " ahead there be sea monsters" most of the new crew panic and stress about the monsters for the whole journey . Listen to Bob, eatsslottie and the rest of this lovely bunch of Sinbadian sailors who will happily tell you it's a sign to frighten you no more.......there are no AF Dragons ahead.....just feel the ocean spray in your face and reach for that Horizon.

We could be knocked down by a bus, but if you move here to rural Norfolk, you should be OK.

We all worry, but if worry is ruining your life, go see your doctor. Anti depressants are a useful tool if cbt or counselling are not enough.

I agree with kodaska - we are all doomed so need to find ways to cope with that.

Exactly folks! If you let it worry you then it will certainly do you in! I live in southern Australia and recently went on a holiday to the Kakadu National park up near Darwin in the Northern Territory.....dammed hot it was even though it was in winter lol....35c! I climbed a huge rock/small mountain with no effects except sweat and sore legs. I have 2 stents, 2 ablations, a cardioversion and a pacemaker! One has to go on and live life to the fullest. I cannot afford to sit around worrying about my condition. My wife and I are off to Airlie Beach in Queensland in 5 weeks so my suggestion to everyone is have fun and enjoy life!

Cheers

Barry
