Just a quick question, are patients routinely cardioverted after an ablation.

Not that I've heard of BUT my EP told me that I went into AF during my ablation and had to be shocked. I asked him if the AF had been helpful and he replied "Not really."

Beyond that I have never had a cv.

Reading my notes after my last ablation I noticed that I'd been cardioverted twice throughout the procedure. I guess they may do it if your heart isn't in rhythm afterwards, but probably not necessary if your heart rate is ok.

Usually they make sure that you are in NSR before waking you up so the answer would normally be yes if needed.

I had an electrolyte imbalance 2 days after my ablation which threw me back into AF and had to be cardioverted to get back in NSR.
