Pacemakers and Induction hobs

The BHF recommends that if you have a pacemaker and are cooking with an induction hob that the pacemaker should not be any nearer than 2 feet to the hob you are using.

Does anyone on this site that has a pacemaker also use an induction hob?

Lots of things COULD interfere with a PM. Get an AGA then you won't have a problem. lol Anything which creates electromagnetic interference has the potential to cause problems and were I to have one I would not be allowed to do electric welding.

By the way. key less car ignitions systems are alleged to interfere with PMs. Mind you I wouldn't want to bend over that far if I were cooking.

Thank you Bob. I don't have one yet but am re-fitting kitchen, so hence the question.

You've got to watch some of the modern AGA's Bob, that don't have the vapourising burners.

Also, just about to test the keyless ignition theory. My car is and I'm about to have the PM fitted. Watch this space.

No I was advised against it by my EP & device manufacturer.

When I asked my EP about cooking with my induction hob, he told me to carry on cooking! Have had my Pacemaker for over a year now and no problems. Interesting to know all the different opinions.

Best practice is to use a pan the right size for the hob, i.e. covers the 'ring'. Put the pan on before you switch on the hob, and switch the hob off before removing the pan.
