The new anti-coags and time differentials whilst abroad.

I know that this has been covered before but I think that it needs to be mentioned again following Mamacass's hugely popular post of yesterday.

I know that some of the new anti- coags are 1x daily and some 2x (ie my Pradaxa) They have a very short time being effective and this is important when there is no antidote. Thus adjustments need to be made due to time differences.

I have to travel to the USA at the end of May so I will lose 6 hours on the way there and gain 6 on the way back. ( My son is marrying an American girl )

I need to weigh up how to handle the necessary adjustments long before I go.

Just take them at the same GMT time as normal if at all possible. I necessary work up over a few days before hand by say and hour a day to make that possible so that you don't have to get up at 3 am US time.

Thanks Bob, I was thinking that 3am was a rotten time to be tablet-taking.

Thank you so much. I'm getting a really lovely daughter-in-law and I'm going whale watching off Boston. None of this would have been possible without my ablation and Flecainide as a pill-in-the-pocket!
