CVA and mitral valve regurgitation.

Hello,

I was wondering after a CVA whether any-one knows the mitral valve reguritation when it becomes severe whether the surgeon might replace or repair the mitral valve.The thing is we still do not understand why the cardiologists thinks my boyfriends had a CVA I certainly have not noticed any change in his health,ie loss of feeling in his body,speech defect,memory loss etc. We asked the locum doctor at the hospital who saw my boyfriend in clinic why he thought this and he said all the tests had not been done and the only way to find out would be an MRI scan which boyfriend has not had done or been put down for.The only thing we can think of is they have picked up on the lesion on my boyfriends brain which has been there for at least 15 years which has caused his epilepsy.We told the locum this at the hospital but lead surgeon as still put CVA on a report.Just what would happen if boyfriend cannot have mitral valve replaced,repaired and yet as far as we know after questions their is no evidence of a CVA as far as we know.

We don't know what to do perhaps we should approach boyfriends neurologist to write a letter to cardiologist to confirm the lesion as been on the brain some years after finding it on an MRI scan.

just asking whether any-one knows whether valve can be operated on after CVA.
