Well done you Steve D I have not had my ablation but I believe it takes a bit of time for things to settle down. After my ablation in September I will be called back after 6 weeks so I guess this gives an indication as to how long things take to settle down but if you are not sure go and see your GP or do you have an Afib Nurse you can contact did they not give you a telephone number at the hospital for support and questions?

Steve you still sound normal to me. The heart takes at least three months to heal following your treatment and as I have said many times , a lot of funnies can happen in that time. The cough may be due to GA as that takes ages to clear from your system and the mild chest ache is just the heart reminding you what it has gone through.. Do speak to you Arrhythmia nurse if you are worried but I wouldn't panic too much.

Steve that was a really helpful post, again it's one week today for me and I also have an irritating cough, still get a bit tired if I do too much, and also get this funny pain in chest if I breathe too deeply. Not a major pain just a conscious it is there type pain. The plus side is I have had no flutters at all, and as I was getting them daily I have really noticed the difference.

I had my ablation last October and Steve and Hel1958, you are both describing what happened to me. The pain when breathing deeply passed very quickly but I experienced all kinds of sensations over the next few months. The indigestion lasted for quite a few weeks but that too gradually disappeared. I had made a note of all the possible after effects from the people on here (including the one ' I thought I was having a heart attack but it went in a couple of seconds!) so don't be surprised at anything and, as has been said, if you are worried get help.

Don't forget the post ablation mantra - do nothing in the first week and not much more in the second. It took me about five months to feel completely right.

All the best, it sounds as if you are both on the right track.

Hi Steve

It's 2 weeks since my PVI. I've also had the coughing when I breathe in deeply and the funny chest pain which Hel1958 described, so I think it's a common problem. It seems to have nearly disappeared now. In general I'm starting to feel like I'm getting my energy back, but still taking it easy with gentle walking exercise and napping when I need to.
