Has anyone looked into supposed connection of AF with a) deficiency of copper in the body b) excess of mercury?

Have seen various articles positing both as possible causes or accelerators of AF

No I hadn't looked at the effects of copper and mercury on AF, but I have now! Interesting stuff!!! Have you experimented with, or had any experience with them?

I was aware of how the heart needs magnesium to function correctly and the fact that supplementing with this could help/cure AF. For many years I supplemented with magnesium citrate. I thought that it helped, but had to stop taking it when I was put on warfarin.

Hi dear

Long time back a homeopathy doctor diagnosed my case that my body is getting relief of excessive amount of heavy metals and that is the reason of palpitation and flutter , and she advised me to do urine test during AF attack to check the level of metals

I didn't get seriously , since I understand the meaning of flutter well , and I think it can be a reason of palpitation but not flutter!

Also the homeopathy doctor prescribed for me a remedy to maintain the level of different sodium , potassium , ..... Etc. In my body but I was scared to start it

I believe in homeopathy but it is hard to find a good doctor who can follow up such cases carefully since this medicine in critical

Hi,

Previously I was an industrial chemist and with regard to copper and mercury you need to be careful. Mercury is a very toxic metal and its handling and disposal are strictly controlled. As advised consult your doctor as regards taking anything with metal salts.

Stay save

Hi

I've looked at both in the past. I concluded that mercury was not a risk as long as any mercury amalgam fillings are left alone or at least only extracted carefully by a dentist. With copper you have to be extremely careful. It is associated with dementia so I would not take copper supplements whatever.

I do take a magnesium supplement (and I'm on warfarin) but that's it. I took Potassium briefly as I believe it helped stop night time cramps but I've solved those another way.

Thanks all.

To be specific I was asking about a) mercury "poisoning" - by the presence of amalgam fillings - and if anyone had any experience of mercury removal and the effects there after. I have about 10 filings so I will have taken on a fair bit of mercury in my time ! But I also have heard that copper (or more specifically its absence) is also linked to various heart related issues. Apparently studies have shown that most Europeans do not get even their RDA. Given RDAs are usually a bare minimum then this may be an issue. I'm not much into this yet, so I'm asking for comments. I take the point re copper and Altzheimers, I'll look at that too .

Hi I hadn't heard about mercury and copper before however, many years ago, perhaps as many as 30, I had all my amalgam fillings removed by a specialist. They had to be done in a definite order with special equipment etc. Well, I was diagnosed with PAF a year ago so I cannot blame mercury. Will try and find out about copper
