Here are some abbreviations and accronyms that I think should be added to our list:

ADT - Amputated Damn Testicles. I miss my ADT.

AE- Alpha Eunuch. Don’t mess with him, he thinks he’s the AE around here.

ANK - Alive ‘N Kicking. He’s been through a lot, but he’s still ANK.

BB - Balsa Bones. Years of hormone treatment have left me with BB.

CV - CancerVersary. Two years ago this month I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. I’m planning on kicking out the stops for my CV.

EPIC - Enlarged Prostate Is Cancerous. Your biopsy results were EPIC.

GPD- Golf Pencil Dick. I just peed down the front of my pants, damn GPD!

MFHF – MF’n Hot Flashes. If you’ve had them you know what this means.

MWLF(a) - Man Who’d Love to F*** Again.

PC - Pin Cushion. Between bloodwork, meds and vaccines I feel like a PC.

ROD – Reliant On Depends. Self explanatory.

SOB - Stubborn Old Bastard. He’s still fighting hard to stay alive, he’s a real SOB.

SOC - Sick Of Cancer. All of us, our family and friends are SOC.

SZ – ScanZiety. My scanziety is out of control, I’m on pins and needles waiting for the PMSA results.

TFP- Tears For Peers. TFP can be brought on by reading the hospice posts and notifications of another brother's passing.

Fire trucks cause fires, Acronyms and abbrieveations cause me to be snide and sarcastic. Nothing I can do about it.

Fingers crossed that I get there as well. Hopefully I can maintain a sense of humor (even if it’s twisted) to help decrease the cortisol

I know the one for ctflatlander (NTSPC) and I is just a limp version of the blue PC ribbon.

Blue Ribbon Beer
in reply to Carlosbach

Oh ok! 😂Blue ribbon is True Americana ! Remember ? The Schlitz malt liquor bull ? Two of those would change your day?

Carlosbach profile image
Carlosbach in reply to

when I heard that a blue ribbon was the sign for prostate cancer I had an epiphany

Don’t know what’s in cheap beer that fights cancer, but I’m in remission and simultaneously going to have to join AA

Availability of good beer has come a long way. In my 20's I used to bury a case of Blatz beer in a snowbank out the back door then transition into drinking Budweiser when the Blatz ran out lol.

Blatz case was an oily looking brown cardboard case always and only a few bucks in the early 80's.

Don't drink really anymore. Once in a while a beer. Fights remission ok lets see whats in the fridge might have to open a cold one lol.

Newcastle. Guiness. Porter and stout beers. Victoria, Pacifico to feel like I am back in Mexico City lol. Some rediscovered midwest beers Grain Belt etc. Lost my taste for fat tire. I guess I am a ale/lager guy but not pale ale.

And boy am I ailing ha.

Was a beer drinker for many years. Went through a lot of phases from cheap Rainier beer, to stouts to IPAs, to premium microbrews. I traveled for work so I've had a lot of regional beers as well as mexican and asian beers. On the wagon now, but might have to do some more research...

CAMPSOUPS profile image
CAMPSOUPS in reply to Carlosbach

Lot of work travel for me too (service with printing press manufacturer, worldwide). Lot of beers to try over the years.

Rarely have any for last few years. Cannabis prevails. Even a couple beers and my depleted body feels crappier than usual the next day.

Carlosbach profile image
Carlosbach in reply to CAMPSOUPS

I LOVE a lot of different beers. Unfortunately, I suffered with gout in the 4 years preceding my diagnosis, and beer was the number 1 thing that would set off an attack. Now I'm reduced to a couple of 6 packs over the course of a summer.

Your travel sounds interesting. Love to hear about it some time. I'm writing down some of (what I consider to be) my most interesting travel exploits to share with my kids and grandkids. It's been fun traveling back in time and reliving my travel. The fun, exciting, challenging, and dangerous times, from the safety of my home office.

CAMPSOUPS profile image
CAMPSOUPS in reply to Carlosbach

Im with you on that. Maps and street views I am able to trace my past travels maybe its just me but pretty cool. "I was there" lol. I really should get a VR like brother Kal has.

Yea I'm lucky to have survived a lot of what I did back in the times. An addiction counselor told me "Its ok to celebrate the good experiences you had doing things that weren't good for you that enabled you to have those experiences" Ha.

laughter is the best medicine... oh sure, like it can cure cancer. ha! but thnx for making my day... erm, my night... ok, it's just past midnight here, so it's morning, i guess. seriously, Not sure if it's worth looking up what the abbrev. really indicate. As for ROD... i'm stocking up on black slacks in case of leakage. ah well, on with the battle.

Carlosbach profile image
Carlosbach in reply to JPOM

Ah, So you are going beyond standard of care and supplementing with socks. My Uro says the studies on adding socks are inconclusive at this time. He doubts the value of RODS (Reliant on Depends and Socks) and is encouraging me to not experiment as long as the ROD treatment is till working.

Ive been taking MMG (manly man gone).

Carlosbach profile image
Carlosbach in reply to CAMPSOUPS

How did you get into the MMG program. I understood that it was a trial and that they weren't accepting guys with man boobs since we are already halfway there.

CAMPSOUPS profile image
CAMPSOUPS in reply to Carlosbach

Trial acceptance based on how many times you cry watching nostalgic movie from your childhood.

A wash out period of watching Jim Jarmusch movies is allowed.

Thx for this post! I was a caregiver for my husband for 6 1/2 yrs until he died. These acronyms help me see some humor in what my husband was going through. I thank you for sharing them!

Carlosbach profile image
Carlosbach in reply to Hawkwoman76

Thank you so much for your post. I was trying to lighten the tone of our forum, but I was concerned about how my dark humor would land with all of the family members who also share this site. I’m so relieved and gratified that my foolishness helped you.

I’m sorry for what must have been a grueling time for you and for the loss of your husband. My wife’s love and support keep me afloat in difficult times, and I’m confident that your husband felt blessed to have you by his side.
