Hello all. My dad is on enzalutamide but his PSA has been bouncing around the past 7/8 months from 7-12.5 (sometimes up and then down). His doctors don’t seem to be phased by this, I don’t know whether the approach is different here in the UK but I don’t know why they aren’t reacting. His last scan was November and it showed his mets were healing and no new spots which was good news but I don’t understand why they are not reacting more to his PSA bouncing around? Should they be?

The scans are the bottom line. If no new growth, the enzalutamide is still working. If he still has a prostate, his PSA will always be there - prostatitis will make it fluctuate.
Thanks Allen. He does still have a prostate and does suffer from prostatitis so that could help explain. I was worried because I see a lot of men on here with undetectable PSAs and I don’t understand why our doctors don’t seem to be pushing for that for my dad with other treatments eg chemo. He is otherwise an active, healthy 72 year old with no other comorbidities.
