When last updated I completed two rounds of the Cabazitaxel/carboplatin and PSA at 108.
Was scheduled for round 3 of 4 today but after being told “ hammer to big for your case” a met suddenly pops up around T3-6
Pain popped up Saturday in sciatic nerve. Moved to back Sunday. 9 pain scale if I moved wrong etc.
Later that night sodium dropped to 123 Noodle legs so I called the on call doc who recommended ER visit where upon multiple hours of imaging and a neuro surgeo consult they admitted me and did a lamunectomy and tumor removal , two corn kernel sized Mets were removed and the job was done with minimal hardware
Great recovery so far by all accounts. Going to take a bit of recovery time
One interest bit is the DIM As I’ve been getting PSA test every three weeks they did one here at UWMC … 115 up from 108 With DIM 2 each morning and night Previously 61 to 108! Previously to that 57 to 61 with DIM . Apparently it works for me at keep the PSA from doubling Oddly not feeling god over the weekend and not making great decisions I didn’t take the DIM over the weekend Not sure if that spiked the Mets or what
Silver lining no more chemo fior a while!! We will see where the roller coaster goes from here. Hope this was the cause of PSA rise

I thought weeks of exhaustive research I had uncovered every possible substance that may help delay the progression of PCa. I could only find any decent evidence for Lycopene (from tomato paste/sauce, not supplements) and Sulforaphane (from broccoli sprouts although anything with "Truebroc" or Prostaphane seems to be effective (at least 100mg of the former and 60mg of the latter). Interestingly I didn't run across any studies involving DIM and Prostate Cancer (other cancers), but your anecdotal experience is quite interesting. Curious if you tried the large quantities to tomato past/sauce (equiv to 30-45mg Lycopene) or any high-quality, high dose Sulforaphane supplements along your journey and what the results were. What information source led you to start using DIM?
I found this site by searching for DIM info and found it through forum member Nalakrats! Originally a woman I know told me about the supplement so I started the duck duck go and found this place.
I'd of course run this by your Oncologist. I'd be very interested to see if you have any PSA level changes if you started taking a couple OncoProtect ES caps a day. It basically just another compound from cruciferous vegetables. Would be even more interested if combining it with 3 tablespoons of tomato paste does for someone at your stage. The research on Lycopene and Suloraphane for AFTER cancer has progressed is in its infancy.
To follow up and close out this post, I am now home and learning to walk again. Everything went well from the neurosurgery point of view. PET Scan scheduled for later this month to determine if I am eligible for one of the newly approved treatments... The Leutium one I believe... No more chemo though. The thing that I wonder about is what kind of crazy is having aggressive mets develop while on CHEMO!!
