Do those who have permanent catheters find that you experience a lot of bladder infections?

Question for those that have permanent or semi permanent in dwelling catheters
Hi Magnus,
I do not have catheter, however I’m very prone to UTI and I take daily D-Mannose supplements, 2 capsules in the morning and two in the evening from Now or Solaray brands and as long as do not forget to take them I’m OK.
If I start feeling first symptoms of UTI , I increase for a couple of days D-Mannose intake to 2 capsules 4 times a day and if it is already full blown UTI then 4 capsules 4 times a day.
Of course plenty of water.
Hey Magnus! My first year and a half I had a foley . The third day after insertion I’d get UTI’s Almost constant the entire time. TheHard antibiotics I was using damaged my joints. My uro said “infections are the scourge of urology “! I hope you skip that version ! Good luck!
Thanks, this something I am thinking about bringing up to my research doctor. If D-Mannose is a viable alternative to antibiotics I would like to go for it.
The antibiotics are hard on us . But Without them ,most of us wouldn’t be here . I’ve taken massive amounts! Good luck finding your fix . 💪✌️
If possible avoid in-dwelling catheters as the have a poor UTI record when compared to intermittent self catherization. I have been self catherizing for some three months with never a hint of UTI. All it requires is washing your hands thoroughly and carefully using a pre-lubricated sterile catheter after having cleaned the head of your penis, preferably with an alcohol wipe with which you can also sterilize your fingers before touching your penis and the catheter.
Best of luck !!
Whenever there's a foreign "doodad" being inserted in the human body look out for infections................
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

True dat! 😎
Are you using/considering a catheter for incontinence issues?
I currently catheterize twice a week and I am considering a foley.
For?
Incontinence. I am slowly losing control.
Bro, Did you ever read about what I'm doing with just a couple of paper towels, a shortened plastic sanitary napkin bag, and some small rubber bands? I've tried several things; however, this getup does a pretty good job of taking care of me when at home and even for 'up to' two hours while I'm out. At night I never even wet the towels and can easily go eight hours without a pitstop. I do spend 15 to 20 minutes 'sitting' on the pot emptying my bladder before retiring. I think that along with the fact that I'm lying down and inactive is the key.
