Hello again, fyi-The name of the pill form medication that caused my husband (Jeff Nolan) tachycardia and is named Orgovyx. It is a GnRH. His tachy was high 24/7, is a common side effect of this med. The doc wanted to do an ablation of the heart. Unfortunately, his heart rate was too low afterwards.
Looks like approval was est.,January 2021.
*Hope this helps Anyone!

Thank you for posting this to alert us of possible complications. My husband already has experienced heart issues from thyroid problems and I don’t want to pile on.
I am sorry for the death of your husband and hope you can find strength after all you have been through.
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. And thank you for sharing your husband’s experience with this new drug. I remember when last year it was approved and made available for PC. It is useful for this community to hear real-life experiences relating to the efficacy of orgovyx and any other PC treatment.Sending you a big hug.
Thank you for posting the name of the new drug. And please accept my condolences for your loss. It is clear you were of wonderful support and assistance to your husband.
FWIW, I have been taking Orgovyx for about five months now. Side effects have been limited to hot flushes, primarily. But I certainly have been mindful about the drug's possible side effects on the heart.
Fortuitously, my cardiologist had implanted a 24/7 heart monitor in my chest a few months before starting Orgovyx, largely to monitor for Afib, but also other heart conditions such as Long QT syndrome, a known possible side effect of Orgovyx.
Others taking Orgovyx might want to consider getting such an implant, just as a precaution. My cardiologist checks the implant's data stream frequently. It has given me a lot of peace of mind about taking Orgovyx.
Scott, is your MO by any chance Dr. Dorff? Quite a coincidence if so. I am also receiving my treatment at he City of Hope and also have A-fib and Arrhythmias,. My MO is Dr. Dorff. When you say that you've had 2 cardiac ablations, can you be more specific, as to the procedures?
I missed your posting of last October regarding the passing of you dear Husband Jeff. Please accept my belated condolences and may the memory of Jeff last forever. God Bless you....
Nal, do you see potentially more heart complications from Orgovyx than from the injections like Firmagon? I stopped ADT after heart SEs developed from 3 years of injections. Today I reluctantly started Ogovyx, as Nubeqa alone was not holding down PSA. My thinking is that the Orgovyx will be safer because if the cardiac issues return, I can stop the pills, and T should recover quickly
Hi Joeyguy, not to upset you but my husband that passed -(Jeff) did stop the Orgovyx within almost 1 month and he d/c due to the tachy. However his tachy remained 24/7. A couple months later is when his doc decided for him for the heart ablation. From the results of the ablation-it created a heart rate much too low & irreversible. Sorry to say. Maybe it was just him, but who knows? A new drug yes, have they finished phase 5 f/u studies? No.
No history, ever. I’m sure you didn’t want to hear that ..sorry. In fact he only took it for a couple weeks as I remembered after my initial post. His tachy was est. 140 day and night..exhausting. He took Lisinopril for years for his high B/P (plus others,,ie. Baby aspirin)) and all cont. Sometimes his tacky went even higher..I couldn’t leave him alone, wouldn’t dare.
*Ty for your kind thoughts. I hope this helps! Very possible he was allergic to it.
Mine developed when I was on the injectable cousin of the Orgovyx pill..... Firmagon. Luckily my tachycardia was not constant like your husbands, and it went away shortly after stopping the injections. Hoping the pills don’t bring it back.
I hope not for your sake as well! (Ya know, they advertise the drug being the Best..but if you look at studies..it’s outcome gives an average “a couple extra months-that’s all!” Not impressed, it’s a marketing mechanism to get Dr’s to prescribe for extra $$.Just fyi-hope you are the lucky one that will gain many months as an outcome!
I started to develope heart rhythm issues after just a short time on elegard and Firmagon injections. These were daily tachycardia, irregular and skipped beats, and PACs. I had never had heart rhythm issue before ADT. After 3 years on ADT I started having some shortness of breath. This led to the discovery of a 70 % blockage. I believe all were a result of ADT drugs and not keeping up with cholesterol and triglycerides while on ADT. Apparently lipid profile test don’t occur to urologists or oncologists. I’m am now on several heart meds, blood thinner, and lots of fish oil to keep things in check
Metoprolol for the tachycardia , clopidogrel to thin blood, lisinoprol , Rosuvastatin, low dose aspirin and 3 fish oil per day..... was also on amlodipine, but stopped it a couple months ago
The blockage is not in an ideal location for a stint. It’s in the main fork of the LAD. They checked downstream flow when they did the heart cath and said it was actually pretty good considering a 70% blockage. If it was to get any worse, I am told a single bypass would be better option. I don’t think they get too excited about blockage until it’s closer to 90%
