I’m very sorry to tell you that my husband (Jeff) passed away in his sleep on October 29th, 2021. It was a very different battle for both of us, and after Chemo-August 2020 to April 2021, he went downhill from there. His heart ablation was because he started having tachycardia after chemo was completed (however that is a major side effect of the Brand new FDA Approved (April 2021) androgen blocking hormone treatment pill) that his Dr. Prescribed. Plus hospice came in the last couple months and put him on 2 additional narcotics. So he took 3 at night. This is what I believe what took him during the night of Oct. 29,,21’.
This is his wife, and I finally was able to write you. He was ready to go..and he stated that to me on many occasions in the last few months of his life.
Thank you for this great group that helped us learn a lot! He wouldn’t try any other recommendations from this awesome blog posts and his doctor never offered any other treatment. We requested Radium223 in the beginning, but his Dr. wanted him in a clinical trial instead.. The lesson being-please Change your Dr.if you are only offered one treatment option.

Thank you everyone for the kind, wise words. To Nalakrats..my history is backed by clinical trials as the project leader. I’ve had no interest in it for many years now. I love the idea of being a patient advocate, I have really enjoyed doing it for many years for many people..not only my husband but before that. I know how rewarding it is, and helpful to people that just do not know for example what questions to ask their Dr.s..etc-. How to go about disability, transitioning to Medicare and so much more. I would sincerely like to hear your two cents worth regarding it and your story.
Thank you his wife and his life . Might I ask you what was the test drug? It kinda sounds like he was put on narcotics too soon maybe? Was he still in bad pain? In the end there is mercy for us all . Combination of Carboplatin and Cabazitaxel. Which individually were FDA approved but in 2020, not approved for using combo. Fyi-it stops the spread of ca, doesn’t kill it though. Also due to his heart ablation for tacky, his heart rate became too low.
I'm so sorry the journey went this way for you. The end comes a little differently for each person, and often in ways we don't quite expect. No way is easy. Please know that you did well, even if you feel like it wasn't enough, or that you could have done better if you had known more. There are always things we could have done differently, no matter how much knowledge we have and this disease is a very tough chess game to play in. Feel free to reach out here if you need to. My deep sympathy to you in the loss of Jeff. This is truly a battle that most of us (and our support person/team) on this site daily fight daily. I realize that my wife fights this battle for me everyday as I am sure Jeff did. We keep you in our prayers.
May he rest in peace and both of you be reunited on that soon coming glorious day of the. 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ! 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18! What a reunion will that be!

We learn to live with loss. There is no "getting over it" and "time does not heal" but we learn to accept a significant loss. People mean well when they offer these time worn sayings.
Sometimes family, friends or clergy can help but not always. At times we are our own best company and advisor.
You will never forget and shouldn't try. I have thoughts every day about someone who died decades ago. Although the memories can be painful, they are somewhat balanced out by the good memories--so take joy in those memories.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank you for taking the time to let us know. It seems we've lost so many wonderful men lately. I know how painful it must be for you to open this site. God bless you and comfort you.
