Early access to LU 177

I will be getting early access to Lu177 and start my 6 cycles in December. Has anyone had this treatment and if so, what were the side effects during the 6 six week cycle as well as the side effects after treatment ended. Also, did Medicare pay for the treatment?

Lastly, how effective was the treatment?

Thanks

If your cancer is expressing PMSA it should work well. You may experience dry mouth as it affects the saliva glands. The effectiveness will be determined by the PMSA scan. Not sure about payment I was in a trial so the drug was free but BCBS paid for other stuff. Good luck.

How long did dry mouth last or is it permanent?

It can be permanent. My mouth is usually dry in the morning but recovers during the day. I sucked on Worthers Original during treatment thinking it would help. Ask the radiation onc. I don't know if that worked for me or not.

How long ago did you complete LU-177. I'm wondering how long it can be expected to hold PSA down before your back rising, and back to where you started? We're you hormone sensitive or castrate resistant?

Castrate resistant nearing end of SOC alternatives. Shrunk some tumors 50 percent others not at all. As part if the trial never saw PMSA scan so scan results were always a surprise. I would do again if I get the opportunity and would help. Follow-up with chemo to treat non PMSA cells. PSA was at lowest levels and started to rise a month after treatment hence chemo. Good luck!

I had done my third infusion of LU 177 in late Sept. The results have been good...PSA dropped from 4.08 to 0.227 in my last blood test on Oct. Will be doing a major scan in mid -Nov to ascertain progress and if 4th infusion will be needed. Side effects that i have encountered...Dry mouth ( was not as bad ) ...fatigue in the first few days after infusion.. Besides that, it was less challenging than chemo. BTW, I continue to walk at least two hours a day. I felt the exercise helped too.
