Must be all that clean living in Hawaii. Here in North Idaho I have gained weight, but am only working on year 5 as stage 4 Gleason 9/10 . Life is Good for both of us. I'm ahead of him at 71 but my hair is the same white.

Les is 73 now.

Yep! he sees his doctor this Thursday and gets his Lupron shot. Still rides his motorcycle just about every day.

Glad to hear you're doing well at the 5 year mark. Good for you!!!! And yes, it's a wonderful life here on Kauai. It agrees with us.

He is the poster boy for living well and long with APC. His journey is amazing. Good looking dude with the deadpan and Bonjovi hair. Keep rocking it and inspiring me. I am a skinny dude too. Riding my BMW and ocean sports in Cabo, especially kite surfing and swim every day. Hard to hold on to muscle with this disease. Would like to meet you both someday and connect with me and my wife.

He's always owned Harleys since 1980, and still owns at least one at all times. (we have no kids) Now it's a Sportster since he didn't have confidence for the big ones anymore.

Les and one of his Sportsters.

James Dean, James Dean ! 😎👍

Funny you should say that. An old girlfriend of his told me that he was her James Dean when she dated him back in the late 60s.

I’m sure . But f the ol flame . You’re the one and only love ! 😂✌️❤️

Of course you do. It's a guy thing, right?

in reply to bluepacifica

Us dudes love cars . It’s true .😂

bluepacifica profile image
bluepacifica in reply to

Oh, and you see that car behind him? It's not just a Mustang, it's a Shelby! He got rid of it before the year was out since it was like holding back a race horse. We lived on little San Juan Island, Washington where the speed limit was 45 mph but only in one small area! Actually, it wouldn't be much better here on Kauai since speed limit is 50 mph.

in reply to bluepacifica

I know kauai well..San Juan! Wow! I compliment your location choices! You lift us up with photos and experiences .. very kind of you . ❤️🌊

Well, we don't have kids so nothing really constrains us. We live in Princeville and just love the north shore. The path behind our condo goes down to Anini Beach.

in reply to bluepacifica

Love anini . Wind surfing at anini? My bud is Wabo ,up in Princeville acres .. the other is the “Larry the Hoosier “ in Kapaa … both have been there since the 70s ,and now they are both in their 70s .. heaven like Kauai !🌈❤️

James Dean! You took the words right out of my mouth. I was gonna ask pacifica if that was a Hyundai in the garage just to see what her reaction was.

bluepacifica profile image
bluepacifica in reply to monte1111

Oh, you're a hoot, Monte. Les always loved cars as well as motorcycles. I don't care about them. When we were getting off the ferry when we first got, one of the ferry workers yelled out, "Is that what I think it is?" Every guy turned around, looked, gave a thumbs up.

in reply to bluepacifica

He’s got a hot chick and hot cars too . Our kind of guy .

If you are not a heavy smoler, you should stop.

bluepacifica in reply to doc1947g

I understand what you are saying and advising. But, after almost 18 years, if he wants to relax and light up, I think he's earned that right. At 73 he is disciplined about his tobacco use. Not my call, it's the only thing he really has a say in. Aloha!

CAMPSOUPS profile image
CAMPSOUPS in reply to bluepacifica

You are doing the right thing IMHO.

And you are very kind in your replies to the man giving you advise as if in this day and age we don't know the ill's of smoking.

Don't hire him as a marriage counselor ha.

I was somewhat at a loss as to Frank Zappa continuing to smoke and recently Eddie Van Halen after diagnosis. I think prior to our own dx we thought people reported to have had cancer treatment were cured --how dare they smoke.

Now after my own diagnosis. I get it now. Especially if not heavy smoking.

Les' cancer is genetic, his father, uncle both died from it. He saw his doctor today who, once again, commented on how wonderful Les is doing even though he's a Gleason 10. He asked me what exactly what was Gleason 10 on the ride home. I didn't give him gory details since 2004. I figured why have 2 depressed people. His doctors over the years would talk to me. The nurses from insurance talked to me. Les tells them all that I'm the one with the history, numbers, etc. My favorite story was when we walked into his doctor's exam room when we lived on San Juan Island, WA. Doctor was on his laptop with his back to us and asked, "So, how are you doing"? Les said, "Fine". Doctor said, "I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to her!" But, it was true. Les said that if he wanted to know stuff, he'd ask me, and he never did. . . . . .until the last few years. If anything has kept the cancer at bay I believe it's been a stress-free life. We lead a simple life, no debts, no complications, etc. Now we've got another 6 months to just live. Then, the cancer comes back into our lives when he gets his blood tests and a Lupron shot at the doctor's.

How sweet!!!!! (my name is Joy, by the way) His doctor told me not to nag at him about his weight and that being thin is better for prostate cancer patients. So, nagging has stopped. You have a great attitude!!!!
