Jeff has 34 staples and is already a bit apprehensive about when (how) they take them out.

The tumor was a little bit stuck to his brain, however the neurosurgeon said it wasn’t significant and he was able to burn it out.

The skull piece removed to perform surgery was too diseased to put back in. They put in a mesh piece instead.

Next he will have radiation targeting the area in which the tumor was removed. The neurosurgeon is hopeful this will prevent that tumor from returning.

When they opened Jeff up, they could also see the other tumor. Due to its location it was decided not to remove. Additionally, it’s small enough that radiation should take care of it.

I’m still astounded by how little aftercare was needed. Jeff was discharged around 9:30 this morning! (Friday, 9-10)

In other news, Jeff has wanted an English Bulldog for years. Today his dream comes true. Our daughter and I are on a mini road trip to pick up β€œMattie”. 🐾❀️

It’s great news that Jeff has been released so soon, now he’ll be able to get back home to his family and comfortable familiar home. The prognosis sounds upbeat as well . What a warrior and there are two great warriors in this battle. That puppy is just adorable , it melts your heart just looking at him. Prolly going to be a fun handful as well. Great loving fun for Jeff and the whole family.. Please let us know as things go forward. I’m hoping for a short convalescence and long life extension for Jeff.

Best wishes πŸ¦‹πŸŒΈπŸŒΌπŸŒ»β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈπŸ•

Mattie is adorable and will be a great comfort. I also got a new puppy and it is the best thing I could have done. Having difficulty sleeping there is nothing like a warm puppy. I had to fly to Seattle to pick up my puppy which was the thing to do since he has bonded inseparably to me.

Don't worry about the staples, they come out easily. I had my head stapled with about 20 staples. There is a special tool that removes the staples and it is painless. I have had a skin stapler for years but never used it. A friend's dog had surgery for cancer of his anal gland. Of course he pulled the sutures out so I had a perfect chance to try the stapler. Then a couple of days later I dropped a sharp piece of metal on my leg and got a huge gash that was bleeding profusely. For me it would be more than 10 hours going to the ER. I stapled the gash and all is well. Since then I bought 20 staplers for myself and friends who live remotely as do I. I removed the staples from the dog's butt and it was a piece of cake. So don't worry about the staples.

I just took the last two staples out of Flea's (friend's dog) butt. I uploaded a video showing how easy it was. one staple was tight and a little difficult to get the remover under in such a difficult location but it was still easy. Flea didn't even flinch. Here is the link

A bundle of joy there, 4 years ago a good friend gave me a young dog. She is my constant companion and the best distraction for this disease β€οΈβ€οΈπŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

Glad to hear your hubby is home and surrounded by loved ones who will care for him like not even the best hospital staff can, (and one adorable canine who will love and lick him🀣). My wife had 30 staples removed from her abdomen in 2012 post Stage IV Colon cancer surgery, PAINLESSLY!We are praying that radiation will destroy all remaining cancer cells guided by God’s Providence , which will lead to a long and quality filled life. Be blessed

Love the puppy, prayers going forward. I've had brain surgery, those staples come out easy. They used a needle nose pliers but they popped out easily and painlessly

This is how they remove the staples. The nurse from "One flew over the cuckoo nest" has a sister named "nurseratshit" who merely uses a ratshit wrench and just removes them one by one. Apparently she's a painless nurse cause she doesn't feel a thing.... I also wanted a Bulldog but wife said there's already too much Bullshit around the house.

Tell Jeff he's my hero and treat him well......

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Phew….what a ride. Glad this surgery is behind you both. Puppies will cheer up any room. Just remember, they are puppies until 2 yrs old. If they chew shoes, it’s your faultπŸ€”. Love Pups. Maddie will help the healing process. The radiation should be painless and effective. Hang in there….both of you. Mike
