Interesting news from mskcc on a form of imaging using a radiotracer that seeks a protein called PSMA.

While we're waiting for FDA approval of DCFPyL,Ga-68-PSMA-11 has already been approved and is available at UCLA or UCSF.

PSMA Ga68 scans are revolutionary technology indeed. This kind of scan will accelerate research to very fast level.Imagine a man with PCa made to eat Turmeric or Lycopene or Sulforaphane food...for 6 months. Scans are taken before and after 6 months and compared. If the cancer cell collections shrink, it proves the efficacy of these natural substances. Same will happen with medications. This scan is the only scan which sees LIVE cancer cells.

I saw a recent post on care oncology and how some believe it works and others thins it’s snake oil. With this new radiotracer technology I suspect more clinical s will be done to hopefully end the long debate.

Can you please provide the link you speak of? All of the reports I’ve seen so far and all the doctors I’ve spoken to so far Ucla, believe the PSMA test to be and incredible innovation. I’d be very interested to see the argument for it being “snake oil”.

I apologize as it was not a link but rather a post 2 days here called “possible new treatment” and see all the replies as it was a discussion on Care Oncology.

Macuna L Dopa reduces prolactin level in body. Also... Nature's Way VITEX fruit supplement (chaste fruit) also lowers prolactin significantly.

Dr Lesli Castello's clain that high prolactin increases growth of castration resistant cancer cells got me interested in these natural substances. My Prolactin dropped about 60% after one month of taking Vitex fruit.

The studies about Carbidopa are unrelated to prolactin.

I presume that cabergoline would reduce prolactin greater than 95%, right? I cant get a doc to scribe it for me. You did a bloodwork test to confirm your 60% prolactin reduction?

Do you take both of these: Macuna L Dopa and Nature's Way VITEX fruit supplement (chaste fruit) ?

Why New?? It's been around for years in most of the world. Maybe new to the States, but certainly not new technology. Australia is already adapting it using flavonoids to become even more precise.

It's an ongoing debate whether Galium 68 or 18F is more effective when doing the PSMA PET. My radiology friends tell me that G68 is superior, but is more difficult to use. 18f is more stable and has a better shelf life, but doesn't give as precise of an image. Both are much better than the alternatives.

The debate is settled now. It is conclusive that Ga68 PSMA PET CT is the King of all scans. .Or Queen of all scans..if you will. Or Mother of all scans as some would say.Gallium lasts on 68 minutes after it is made...so yes.. their is little difficulty using it.

Here’s a comprehensive article:prostatecancer.news/search?...

You will see in this article that the Pyl ligend is more sensitive than GA68 in that it detects a higher percentage of mets at lower PSA levels. It also has the huge advantage of a much longer half life so, unlike GA68, it can be shipped to other facilities. The GA68 requires an on-site GA68 manufacturing facility. Hard to do and much longer to get FDA approval. Pyl should be FDA approved soon and after that we’ll see many new PSMA scan locations becoming available.

Me thinks that *is* might have been *ISN'T* as is indicated in the report that I had seen years ago BUT it is also PSA range dependent.

The biggest proof is that our little, slow moving turtle, called FDA has finally approved this scan in January2021. The other countries like Germany, Australia, UK, India, Israel ,south Africa etc have been using it for several years with good results. Some times proof is in the pudding. Nobody ask's his mother what is the proof that the man she is indicating as father is really his father. There are facts which are obvious.. that's my point.

Is not new, and the study has some flaws in regard to the "vs" G68-PSMA... The standard by which all these new tests are measured.

The F18 contrast was given at a higher dosage and allowed to sit longer prior to imaging. So the comparative is not entirely true to form. It's all good really as does it really matter how it's done, just that it works. But for the most part, it isn't any better than the G68-PSMA-PET scan. The push is to make the F18 match the G68 efficacy because it's easier to make and lasts longer, so then it's availability will be expanded... Anyways, make sure you look at the fine line in these studies! ;)

Best Regards

I had both and they matched in sensitivity and image quality as far as my RO could tell in direct comparison. There is no assurance that SUVmax values are directly comparable so it is better to stick with the same isotope and ligand for follow up. When DCFPyL is approved then any facility already doing other types of F18 scans will be able to adapt it immediately.

I get DCF scans for free at the Los Angeles VA health center as a veteran.
