A blog post 880 days after initial diagnosis

This is either another exceptionally long post, or three shorter posts jammed into one. I discuss my relationship with my medical team, the really dark days I feel into at the end of last week, and bouncing back with a strong weekend, including my first BHAG outing with several photos. Spoiler: I walked 10 miles in a week for the first time in 2021, and 60% of that was in the last two days.

I get that feeling too. Perhaps it's because I'm on fourth line chemotherapy. Not many NEPCa patients find successful treatments after platinum based treatment fails as far as I'm aware.

Tom...Good days...Bad days... and BHAG days...all part of life. Different colors of Rainbow.Inspired by your BHAG adventure....Last week I tried to do a Mini BHAG myself. I was able to brisk walk/run a total of 10 and a half Miles on March 10,2021. Felt good but sore all over . My average day BHAG is 4 to 5 miles a day. Good luck .

Yeah, soreness is expected after such a sudden increase. IIRC, the rule of thumb for running is lenghten your long run by a mile every other week up to 10 miles, then by 2 miles after that.

Good job on getting your body in motion. I am cheering you on from the other side of the country. They make quite a few types of hiking crampons for the icy trail you spoke of. I used them on the same type of trails quite a bit. I took them on snowshoeing outings and often wore them more tha actual snowshoes. There's all types that slip over you boots with rubber retaining straps to full on crampons thicker and dulled specifically for breaking through ice onto rock. The brand I use is Kahtoola. Just a thought if you don't want to wait for the ice to melt.

I do have a pair of ice spikes, I just didn't have them with me. In truth I left the house knowing that it wasn't the right day to walk three miles, just had to get out!

I still try the occasional short jog, but in my current condition it's quite a slog.
