You cannot undo history or the choices you made at the time. Although annoying and stressful the best we can do is take these tests (PSA) we cannot study for on a regular basis.

If blind radiation is used it is a 50-50% chance for buying you some extra years in remission. A PSMA PET/CT may reveal distant metastases and save you from the radiation toxicity and late side effects of a destined to fail "treatment". A couple of recent papers that I have come across indicate that in the early stages of BCR i.e. PSA 0.1 to 0.5, the probability of distant metastases both in lymph nodes and bones is somewhere between 20 - 25%. The remainder is almost equally devided between local bed and regional LN.

Are you saying it's not curable if its local recurrance

Curable is a marketing term. Can be cured, right? Doesn't mean it will definitely go away and never come back. Since no one knows what caused it there can not be any future prevention even after a temporary knock out. What is known are ways to slow it down. They are more efficient in a localized case.

you did radiation for 4 years? Can you explain in more detail? Did it extend remission time?

No George.I had prostate bed irradiation about 4 years after surgery. My PSA had been undetectable until then.

After that, PSA remained undetectable for about 4 more years after which I started Lupron
