A cancer doctor at Karmanos cancer center Detroit said my cancer looks close to Melanoma. I have had Melanoma removed from a few spots over the las 15 years along with several basil and squamous from the nose and chest. Genetic origin is north east Poland and the Ukraine. Blond reddish hair and blue eyed.
I have overlooked telling other Oncologist this and wonder if I should be treated for melanoma somehow . Could this be help in my battle?

It depends on why he said that- was it based on genomic or IHC analysis, or did he just mean it was virulent (spread quickly).
Not to much further discussion to me on either IHC or Immunotherapy. My cancer has not spread fast. I have requested the doctors research results of three biopsies of lymph nodes during my trial ESK981 that failed and resulted with blood clots stroke , edema , loss of eyesight. I have been refused all requests for the results records. Only offered progression after chemo and refused LU-177. Further went to University of Heidelberg for AC-225 and LU-177.

You probably need him to clarify his statement. My genetic origin is also from that area. I too have had melanoma which was treated with surgery and found to be in situ or early stage, non metastatic. I had genetic testing through a blood sample done by my PCa MO and was found to have two germline genetic mutations, one of which is more prevalent in people from that area and makes me somewhat prone to certain types of cancers, melanoma being one of them.

Very interesting. Thanks for your response. Does this mean a targeted treatment of some kind? My oncologist is from the same area, I see her Wednesday. This will give her something to think about. I do not see that oncologist anymore. Not to ??
For one of the mutations that I have, possibly, but for me that treatment has some harsh side effects so it would be something I would consider down the line. I mentioned it because it is a simple blood test or spit test and the knowledge is useful because your children and siblings may carry that mutation as well which would alert them to get PSA testing at an early age, see a dermatologist regularly, etc. it can also be the cause of colorectal cancer so getting a colonoscopy is very important.

Good advise. My 47 year old son has a PSA of 2.4 and a grand son who is a red head . His mothers parents are from the same geographic area. What should I tell them is the name of the test?
The one I had is done by Invitae, when I had it it was a blood test, when my kids had it done a short time later they did it via spit test.

Thanks. I will pass this on to all.Doing PSA Wednesday. No ADT for 14 weeks. PSA is 0.1 after LU-177 and AC-225. Onco and Uur advised going off ADT. Not to sure its a good idea although feeling close to myself. Yeoow ADT is awful. Thinking should do Casodex just to be cautious.
I hear ya, I’ve been on ADT for almost 7 years now, PSA is undetectable. Last year I was given the option to stop Xtandi due to side effects but after about 3 months my PSA became detectable again so I quickly restarted. I don’t want any sleeping mets to come around and start mutating. That’s me, you may have different results.BTW if your kids decide to get genetic testing done probably best to do it out of pocket rather than have it in a doctors records in case they apply for life insurance etc. there are supposed to be laws against being denied for genetic reasons but it’s still a grey area. If you decide to get it though that’s another story, and if you don’t have mutations obviously you couldn’t pass them along, just FYI.
My present onco knows her and they may have a talk on this.
I had a melanoma on my neck which metastasized to my lung and it is being treated with Keytruda and so far it's working.

One-half Greek here, grandfather from Karpathos. 23&me though says 70% Italian.
Beautiful Island but i was never there. I have a hobby of researching immigrants who came to the US through Ellis Island. I can research your Grandfather(s) on either side if you wish.... It's a hobby (no fee involved) it's like being a detective. Anyway I'm available.
