Scheduled for fourth treatment of AC-225 and LU-177 in July. Scheduling the flights is not looking good. Was to do fourth treatment in January , two days before flight Lufthansa stopped all flights. They still are not flying. Does anyone have ideas on what and where to do this? Psa a month ago is .05 .

Thanks

Just quickly looked online for flights. Icelandair flies from Boston to Mannheim on July 16 with 1 stop in Reykjavik for $820.00 round trip. Whether it will actually take off is unknown. Other airlines show flights to there as well. Contacting a travel agent may give you more current information.

Hi Lewicki,

I fly for United. Frankfurt has been flown by us nearly entirely during Covid. We can also take you to Munich. Lufthansa cut deeper than us. The Cares Act has allowed us to operate this essential route. You can fly to Frankfurt from Newark or Wash Dulles on a new 787 Dreamliner. Seats are available. I just can’t imagine this route ending. Just for the purpose of cargo and mail.

We may be headed over there with you. Just completed Cyber Knife. We couldn’t make it to Heidelberg 3/14. Please reach out if I can help. Have a great trip.

Than you for your support. I will be seeking help as I make plans. Is Lufthansa refunding fees ?

Maybe they will forward it to United. Then again they may be flying soon and I can use them and they will apply my money to the new schedule. What a mess.

My advice on tickets is that if you are considering United/Lufthansa, ticket through United because they allow unlimited changes if ticketed by 6/30, while Lufthansa only allows you to change your itinerary once.

I’ve been successfully going to Munich every six weeks since December. It kind of boggles my mind how much international travel changes between every trip, and it’s nerve-wracking that you often have to juggle around canceled flights, but there are a number of options at any given time. If you are looking in July, that may be too far ahead for the airlines to really know their schedules. I find that when they post their schedules, they do so optimistically (with flights from lots of cities to Germany) and then they start paring back the flights a few weeks ahead.

At this point the trip is relatively boring, as you’re supposed to be quarantined when you are in the country. So you aren’t supposed to do tourist things.

I am set to go to Heidelberg July 7. What documents do I need. Also, my daughter is going as my aid what issues does this present. Your help is appreciated.

The rules in place allow entry for important reasons including "medical treatment if there is medical confirmation that without this there is a risk of life-threatening deterioration or permanent substantial damage." (Google translate of the link below.)

bundespolizei.de/Web/DE/04A...

Your docs in Heidelberg should be able to give you a letter attesting to this, and they should include your daughter coming as caregiver so there is no question about her. She should be able to come. The airlines will want to see your letter before you board, and of course the German Border Patrol will look it over and hopefully look up your name on a list that your docs have asked you to be added to.

These rules could of course change between now and then, and of course you'll need your passport.

All the best on your trip! I see above you were also thinking about virus tests. It would be nice if you could get tested when you arrive and not have to quarantine. But for now, you are supposed to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival, which means going to the hotel, the hospital, and back (you don't have to spend 14 days in Germany). Kind of makes it a lot less fun when you can' t go sightseeing while you are there.
