Please ignore the pressure to be achieving things.

Lot's of survivor porn "suggestions" on isolation/quarantine advice. People saying you should be productive or promoting ways on how you should be living your life. Please know that whatever you are doing is probably all right. You don't have to learn that thing that you always wanted to learn or do. Please ignore the pressure to be achieving things. Everyone should go through this in their own way. Consider trying to move your body a little bit every day, but you're not a bad person if you don't come out of this being a handstand expert! You're not inferior to others or a lesser person. You're just one of the billions of people, living your life.

Deep and thoughful message..Darryl. In the race of achieving things and peoples approval, some times we forget to live our own life with awareness and enjoyment.

In spite of coronavirus, sun is still shining, birds are still chirping, clouds are still moving and flowers and herbs are still growing in backyard.

Need to pause and feel simple pleasures of life. Right now, enjoying my Green Tea..getting EGCG and polyphenols. Life is still flowing.....Good Morning everybody !

In Prescott today we are watching slurry and sleeting waves of spring showers roll through .. this covid is to wake up us all to a simpler way of life . Thank you LearnAll . Be well ....

My wife says snow in the White Mtns. We got a little rain in Mesa, but none where I was mountain biking - just a nice cool day! I'm locked down in the Valley with grandkids. Life could definitely be worse!

in reply to Escudilla

You said a mouthful there. Most of third world is in hell right now . We are fortunate indeed.

I'll bet there are a lot of people finding out right now that there's much more to life than "being productive". Sometimes we have to be forced to stop in order to see that. Productivity is also a very subjective thing.

To me, being productive means living your life to it's fullest. It's not something you do, but something you become. I'm sure for many, this Coronavirus situation has taken away a lot of distractions and helped to focus even more on what matters most. Let's hope the lessons we learn from this endure.

Absolutely correct. Cant agree more. Seems like it is a message from almighty that having more things, gadgets and toys will not make us happy. Coming back to basics might give simple pleasures. Self reflection, being in peaceful silence, ability to being comfortable in our own company and keeping simple life and maintaining bond with Universe and humanity can bring more peace than mentality of "I, Me and Myself" We all are part of this universe..just each one is a tiny fleck of the whole. In Indian culture it is said.."Vasudev Kutumbkum" means entire World is my family. Let all of us have a simple but tranquil mind.

I mailed out masks to a patient whose hubby (also a pt) has dementia and she needed to shop.

Sent a few to former dental office manager for her and her 86 yr old Dad.

Good man!

Very nice Darryl...as I sit home and do nothing to help the world I ponder my value to this earth.. I do feel that if I’m to go by covid it’s just natural selection ..I see the brave young nurses and doctors risking life and so many dying while helping the masses . They are the heart and hope for the future ..My first two years in horror with apc I fought the frustration and then the depression of being weak ..my goals and dreams dashed by my physical and cognitive inabilities ...acceptance was the hardest for a macho guy .. Most of us who were hit hard and have somehow pulled through have learned to accept the new us ,way before covid came on the scene. Accepting the things that are beyond our abilities to change is crucial to surviving with APC ... We haven’t gone thru struggle to give up now. In two months I believe that this outbreak will cease . With help from above. Let’s get though it together .. human kindness should be the rule of the day from here on out .

You are already helping the world by sitting home and doing nothing. You are saving one hospital bed, one ventilator and sweats of many doctors and nurses,

There is plenty of space in World for person like you and your lovely family...you are only occupying a little space ,a liitle corner in nowhere,Arizona. Rejoice and enjoy company of bears and birds.

Thanks for this post Darryl! I really like the term "survivor porn" and I'm sure I posted my share in 2019. This year, with platinum chemo (might as well be kryptonite) and Covid-19 I'm not doing much of anything right now. It's difficult for me to wrap my head around the thought that simply surviving for the next few months is an accomplishment all by itself.

in reply to tom67inMA

Only if we survive can this? we then can accomplish our goals and get back to fully living again .

I thik you're right, Daryl, but I gotta say--my place has NEVER been so clean. While I'm having a bit of trouble being motivated for work when so much I do has been canceled, my desire to live in a clean place has never been so strong, maybe because I'm here more. Looks good, too!

in reply to jimreilly

You know what they say about cleanliness? 🙏

sure doesn't apply in my case, though I have a zero chance of accomplishing some of my ungodly goals with all this social distancing stuff! but it will be over some day....

A friend of mine said to me recently that the whole world is now living in the mindset that my husband and I got thrown into two years ago with his apc diagnosis and stroke. First the denial ,grief, fight and then taking the time to appreciate what we have and realize what is important . Other than being shut up in our home/ yard life doesn't seem too different other than the effort when we get groceries (all that cleaning and disinfecting each item). We miss the grand kids but have found the wonders of zoom which allows me to still read storybook with them. It's a time of quiet that has benifts. Thanks Daryl for the pist! Now I won t worry about learning that second langusge!

So true, I’m so lucky that I am retired and have great hobbies, when the weather allows I go to the farm and work on reclaiming a old quarry, but when it’s bad out I restore a old ford pickup. Guys just stay busy if you feel like it, but remember there’s no shame in long naps and quiet time either. Good luck to all my fellow warriors. 🙏🙏
