Chemotherapy Cycle 3 and a Blog Post

Hi All, just a quick note that I'm nearing the end of week 2 of chemo cycle 3 of 6. It's been rather rough, but all the side effects are low grade. Fatigue, pain, digestive issues; the usual suspects for me. I'm currently on carboplatin, etoposide, and atezolizumab for neuroendocrine prostate cancer. Scans done before the third infusion showed shrinkage of the tumors in my bladder and liver. To enhance the side effects, I also got lupron and xgeva injections at the end of the first week. Add in my daily abiraterone, and I'm on 6 drugs right now and wondering why I'm so tired all the time, as I'm about to head out for a 4 mile walk after clicking "Post".

I waited until I was in a better mood before writing my latest blog post, and the results are.. um.. bizarre?

Carboplatin seemed to have worse side effects for my husband than most of the other things he'd been on. And it didn't work that well for him either. Now he's on Cabazitaxel and it's working for now with less fatigue and no digestive problems. Good luck, it's great that you can still be so active .

Side effects are curious things. Docetaxel wasn't as difficult for me, at least not early on, but I remember calling the "call if you have any of these things" number several times with inflamed veins, low grade fever, etc. There's been no such problems with the current chemo, just frequent bone tiredness, more hair loss, etc., but nothing that requires urgent medical intervention.
