Anyone use Methylphenidate for fatigue?

Currently on all the HT and Lynparza for advanced PCa. Dr. gave me a script for Ritalin (methylphenidate) to try and see if that helps. I basically don't get off the couch - between the pain of my C5-6 met and the fatigue. Thoughts?

I'm on Ritalin. Just started last month. On 10mg in the morning. Duration is 4 hrs on these tablets. Then take another about 1pm so it's out of my system by early evening. Made a big difference for me. Like a perfect coffee . Pain is the same. Only now my head says 'get up DO things". I had this suggested to me by my palliative care doctor. And I'm glad I have it.

Thanks. What pain do you have? Mine is from Mets in my spine.

Can you tell me more about the “get up DO things”?!!! If I could just get that back.... I’d be a happy camper!!!! ADT kicked the living crap out of me and most of my aches and pains (debilitating at times) have passed now that I’m months into QoL vacation. My cognitive decline persists / worsens! I can learn to live being dumb as a stump (I’ll run for President) but I can’t stand just not starting / finishing things. I was always had a do tomorrows work today mindset and now can’t get a frigging thing started!!! It’s a mental thing because I sit there and say to myself to get up and do X,Y and Z.... but nothing!!! Does this sound somewhat familiar?!!!

Personally I worked for the 8 months before starting radiation. Felt ok. Not great but worked everyday. 2 weeks after radiation the body repair started and I went to sleep for two months. Started to feel better and then a 6 month lupron shot. Knocked me out.

I stopped the Zytiga one month before the lupron ran out. Two weeks after stopping Zytiga I woke up. Not sure why it kicked my butt after radiation and not before but it did. My thoughts are to go back on the lupron in the future without the Zytiga.

Boy you described me exactly. I’m just waking up for the first time in six months. Didn’t have a real problem until these last 6 months.

I've been radiated there before in 2012, and according to the doctors, they do not want to do anymore radiation.

Nal is spot on about forcing yourself to exercise. Not always easy but fear is a big motivator.

Yes been taking it for fatigue and cognitive issues from long term Lupron and Xtandi for about 3 years now. It was prescribed by my MO. He prescribed 20mg daily but 15 usually does the trick. I spread it over 3 doses last dose in the early afternoon. Definitely helps with energy level and mental focus. Particularly helpful when driving. None of my doctors have an issue with it including a second MO, a cardiologist and my GP.

I do not blame you for trying anything if you are in that kind of shape , If it helps you he’s a genius . Try it . Let us know please your outcome . Anything to feel better . Good luck 🍀
