Passing from Stage 4 Prostate cancer, what to expect?

What is the least painful way to die from Metastatic PC. Husband has stage four castrate resistant prostate cancer. Metz to bones, pelvic area and may be developing a renal obstruction. PSA raising fast with a fast doubling time. Thank God for Oxycodone or he would not have any energy at all. Saving the Morphine from Hospice until later. It makes him tired. Hes an avid Crossfitter and was still doing mod wods until a few weeks ago but has now stopped. So unlike him. He's the only Hosfitter I know 😊πŸ˜₯. I'm looking for links that can better prepare us for what happens next. Tanya

Talk with your doctors and hospice people for guidance. Control of pain etc should be the main objective of his doctors and hospice people if any further treament is futile.

The doctor was very vague and unhelpful. Hospice is better but they are usually wrong when a new symptom occurs. I have found some answers here though and feel a little better prepared. Thanks 😊

My brother went through this over 8 weeks until he passed away in late January 20. Some days he was so heavily drugged that it was awful to watch. I feel for you at this time.

A very long shot. If you perhaps live in Australia, a new late stage drug might be available on compassionate grounds. Sadly, my brother's MO team would not give their permission for him to be so treated even though I presented them with consider clinical trial data, etc. I did find two MO's at other hospitals that would authorize Veyonda, but it was too late to move him to be under their care.

If you have access to a Palliative Care team they are terrific for support. Compassion and Choices is also very good. Here is a link compassionandchoices.org/en...

What a kick in the ass.... Poor guy... I hope and pray he is free from pain. My theory about what comes after is that God gives you the opportunity to pick out any time in your life and places you there with everyone in the world who was there at that same time. Hardest part is to pick which time you want to live in for eternity. Could be when he was a young boy, a young man, a married man etc. God Bless you both...

Hi Tanya, If you have the time to dig around here, there have some wonderfully touching, thorough and personal posts regarding end of life experiences. I used to read them to educate myself on what I would have to go through as the caregiver. My husband just keeps on living so I will have to prepare myself again.

I am interested in finding a simple to take drug that my husband could use at the end.

You seem to have a good sense of humor in your situation. Try to hang onto that.

Thanks for the tip. 😊 Here in the states we have an end of life drug that can be prescribed . First your husband most consult with the doctor then wait two weeks and consult again to make sure it's what he really wants.
