AFIB & Adv Prostate Cancer Shocking Cardioversion

I went back into AFIB WED eve. I’ve been there done that before. Not new news.

To today I get my 3 rd CARDIOVERSION & pre-empted by a TEE ( trans-esophagus echocardiogram). Been there done that before.

At 1st thought it from my Abiraterone & Prednisone & Lupron combo cancer meds; wrong it was probably from lifting 7- 40# bags water softener salt + 1 40# box cat litter. Plus excessive exercising. Still unknown cause of AFIB...BTW the view in my hospitals EP labs is magnificent 🧪💉🔬🩸

I’m keeping my Med ONC on top of my Cardiac history. Ready for my Cardioversion shock procedure soon as I’m told my time this AM..

Continue on with anti-cancer meds after my Cardioversion.

Doug,

The subject of AFib has come up a few times, e.g.:

Looks like taurine and arginine play an amazing part of Arrhythmia control. I did not know that.

Bring it up time to my EP NP visit next Friday??? Right pjoshea13?

Doug,

Nothing to lose by trying them anyway.

Your doctor might not know about it.

Are you taking an anti arrhythmic?

What are your Potassium & Magnesium Levels?

depotdoug profile image
depotdoug in reply to LowT

Magnesium and potassium levels are great.

Potassium 3 weeks ago level was 3.9mmo/L almost in median.

Magnesium is great too. Plus I take 2-100mg Dr's Best Magnesium Chelated tabs twice a day. That equates to 400mg mag/day.

No I was not taking any anti-arrhythmic drugs yet. Was not on any blood thinners until ER and Cardiac floor started me on Heparin IV.

Plus I got my 2nd ICD/Pacemaker device for protection from VTach and pacing for Irregular HR.

I've got an enormous question coming up like next Friday, my return visit to my EP dept. I do not like the idea of rate control meds. But.

Any reason for not trying an anti arrhythmic such as Propafenone if you want to stay out of AFib?

Are you on a diuretic?

Easy answers are:

1. No problem with the correct arrhythmic drug Med. I had big big problems taking Amiodarone back in 2014-2015. Pulmonary functions breathing issues. I’ve never heard of Propanone?

2. Not on any diuretic yet.

Let me know your ideas or where to look for Positive arrhythmic non reactive meds.

I had a catheter ablation about 10 years ago and never an Afib problem since. It was an immediate energized impact.

I had a Cryoablation April 2014. Worked for about a year. Then AFIB reared it’s ugly head again. That was a fun experience though.

Addendum to my Cryoablation 8knots: Urology issue happened. My EP and lab crew decided not to Folley catheter me during my ablation procedure of 4.5hrs. So when back in my Cardiac recovery room post ablation. I had to really go. But I could not get out of bed due to the catheter input sites being still active and watched for bleeding. Yes, I have to self catheter 6-7 times a day. Once they let me stand up I could finally self Cath and oh what a relief it was.

I had AFIB for 10 years. Horrible. Finally ended it with an ablation. Never get any episodes now. It may 'break out' in the future, but I woukdn't hesitate to have the 'touch up' procedure!

Yes exactly Crocodile Shoes. Just what my EP and I discussed the newest Ablation methods and techniques now used in Europe and coming to the USA Electrophysiology world late this year or earlier.

It’s amazing I’ve got an EP that is well advanced in ablation fixing procedures.

Thank you sir. #2 ? for my EP NP office visit follow up this Friday! In fact I’m sending her (EP NP) my questions, notes, concerns via messaging this eve. I’ve learned to be a persistent patient patient with medical professionals if that makes sense. Sometimes that gets the best of me. Too overly persistent persistence in my life... Now doing that with my Med ONC team @ IU Simon Cancer Center Indianapolis.

Standby for fireworks 💥 this week.
