Dx Feb 2019 psa 11.9 Gleason 8, started firmagon, few months later started docetaxel, as soon as I finished my 6th round, my PSA shot up, from a low of 2.5 in late August to 6.9 in November.

Starting trial next week, with will start me on Apalutamide, Abiraterone and prednisone. Trial scheduled to last 24 months, I'll let you know how it goes.

Someone in my support group is on that trial. He was randomized to get all 3, but had strong side effects from Erleada. His PSA is undetectable so far. Good luck!

I have recently been diagnosed (2weeks) with prostrate cancer, PSA went from 3.1 to 5.5 in a period of 18 months, I also had a stent fitted i8 months ago and was on a cocktail of 9 different drugs for a year, have been told that I require radium therapy, I was also asked if I would like to take part in a trial. I am going to see a consultant with regard to a trial for Firmagon and Lupron, my head is all over the place at the moment, nothing quite clear to me yet.

Yep that's how most of us feel, I have a reputation with my MO because I question everything, there are a lot of knowledge people here and they are always willing to help.

I personally want to do as much as I can and I have no problem being aggressive. I understand that firmagon acts on 2 different areas of testosterone production and has a little better track record as far as heart issues. Good luck. There's a ton of stuff in the pipe line. Smile and breath when you can.

Please advise on the results.

I will keep everyone apprised of my situation. My biggest concern is the potential side effects, I flew through docetaxel, with just minor fatigue and partial hair loss, but only 8 months to castrate resistant. So we'll see.

Sounds like you are on top of it and tough.

Keep a close eye on the Firmagon and don't develop CRPC like I did.

I wish you the best on the trial. I consumed these meds. (and others) over a 3 month span. I was given these as part of a clinical trial, where RP surgery followed immediately after. The intent of the trial focused on how apalutamide worked in conjunction with the other meds. (Apalutamide, Spring of 2018, was just approved for clinical-trial use at the time).

Pathology was collected from surgery for this research. I am also instructed to get PSA tests performed regularly. I am now ~18 mos. post surgery, and my tests have all measured below threshold (<0.03). I will be PSA tested again early next month, Dec. The trial is keeping track of my results for a couple years.

I wish you well, and hope the trial brings you good results!!
