Small cell prostate cancer

New here, family member recently diagnosed with aggressive stage 4 prostate cancer metastatic to spine, hip, lymph nodes, and liver. Based on speed of onset (bone scan negative in May) they biopsied liver and found it was small cell prostate cancer. He recently started aggressive triple chemotherapy, 3 days x 7 hours/day every 21 days. Curious if anyone has had similar diagnosis and if they were able to tolerate the treatment. Family member was very sick from the cancer alone and since first round of chemo has needed multiple blood transfusions and experienced weight loss, fatigue, neuropathy and multiple other symptoms

It may be worth trying to get a second opinion from Misha Beltran at Dana Farber, as she is heavily into research of it.

There are a few of us on here that have received that diagnosis. I’m currently on etopiside and Carboplatin with etoposide given over 3 days. Have had two infusions. Overall I found it to be very tolerable so far. I am sorry your family member has this diagnosis too.

I will be starting an immunotherapy clinical trial using Olaprib and Keytruda. You might look into it. I think it is being done at quite a few facilities.

I missed out on the Clinical trial because of Covid 19. I’m doing a CVD Chemo regime that’s just started on Thursday ( (Cyclophosphamide/Vincristine/Dacarbazine) thats an older treatment that is a bridge treatment hopefully for me to get back on the Clinical trial. I feel pretty good, no real pain.
