CRPC and possiblility of Skin Cancer too!

Hi Brothers,

So went to the dermatologist yesterday, and had a couple of things frozen, and a scrape and a punch taken for biopsy tests for skin cancer. I know intellectually I shouldn't be freaking. But the damn emotions won't calm the F down. I'll know by Monday good or bad.

After 10 years fighting our common beast, this is just not the extra thing I need.

So say prayer, give some thanks that the only thing I have to fight is my CRPC.

Peace,

Bees

I've had about 10 of them. I get checked annually. No big deal.

Check on genetic counseling and then genetic testing. For example BRCA2 mutations mean you are also at risk of melinomas.

I have mutation inherited from good old gramps, cut out melanomas, and 3 squamous growths.

My MO suggested that I see a Dermatologist, because I had "something" on my shin, which my dog was leaking to help keep it clean(what an idiot!). That's me! They found basal cell carcinoma and removed a chunk, then I got 6 stitches. Now I am back to fighting the beast.

Enough about you, how's the dog doing?

Tippler, So that is what I heard from the Doc's office on Friday. Lip is clean, but the calf is Basal cell Carcanoma, and they will burn it off tomorrow when the take the stitch out of my lip! So Hang tough and wait was the correct thing to do. This should be in the rearview mirror tomorrow!

Thanks all!

On a statistical basis, the vast majority of these biopsies are benign. Do not get excited until the Pathologist tells you to get excited .... anything else is a vast waste of time & effort.

I was at a visit with Dr. Myers almost 5 years ago and his PA said she didn’t like the look of a freckle on my nose. It had been there for a few years and I never thought much about it. So I agreed to go to the dermatologist who took a biopsy and it turned out to be melanoma. All those years in the sun fishing and coaching my kids baseball and softball teams had caught up to me. I underwent a significant Mohs surgery fortunately they got it while it was in situ or before it had spread below the skin surface. That PA probably saved my life.

Turns out I have a genetic mutation that makes me more likely to get PCa and melanoma. Now I get checked out every 6 months at the dermatologist. If it is cancerous, and hopefully it isn’t, it’s better to deal with it early.

We may all be scripted oliparib...etc..etc...in the not to distant future the way the melanoma/pc incidence is playing out

...not to mention the gene repair tx’s vying for our attention... I just read about a new one set to go public 4DDDD molecular genetics ready to field an entrant into the race

Had one on my neck... was cancerous... removed and then metastasized to my lung.... being treated with Keytruda.... and so far it's working.
