"We made this discovery that adding this second drug, the anti-fungal antibiotic really interfered with the cells ability to process a lot of its waste and as a result we can see under the microscope sometimes these cells explode with debris," he said.
"They're affordable, less than $10 a day," he said.

Each of the drugs by itself showed cancer killing abilities.
One of the drugs itraconazole (an antifungal drug) - without lowering testosterone in a test by itself (not in combination with hydroxychloroquine the other drug in the study)
" Among the 19 evaluable pts, 9 pts (47%) experienced a PSA decline (mean decline 25.0 %, range 2 – 60 %) by week 12, including one patient (5%) with > 50% PSA decline. Among the 10 pts without a PSA decline, the mean on-treatment vs. pre-treatment PSADT was numerically longer (13.2 vs. 4.8 months, p = 0.17)"

The second drug in the study hydroxychloroquine is used to treat malaria, rheumatoid arthritis, some symptoms of lupus.
When tested alone it had the following results:
"Results: 64 patients (36 cohort 1; 28 patients cohort 2) with median age 71(55-94) and baseline PSA was 3.25ng/ml (0.24- 45.69ng/ml) were enrolled in the study. 39 patients completed 6 months of hydroxychloroquine therapy and 44 patients completed 5 months of treatment. Out of 64 patients, 52 had at least 5 PSA measurements after the start of treatment, and we restrict our analysis to these patients. In 33 patients of these 52 (63%), the doubling time decreased after treatment began. In 12 of these 52 (23%), the “doubling time” turned negative, consistent with decreasing PSA value."
This new test is combining them both.
