Good News for Living with PC

With a stage 4 diagnosis I was told I should stop drinking any alcohol. My trainer yells at me all the time for drinking. But heck...I eat really healthy, I work out really hard, lost weight, gained muscle mass and lived with chemo/SBRT/Zytega/Prednisone/Zometa/

Metformin/Celebrex/lupron etc etc for two years. But damn, I like to throw back a few beers with the guys after a round of golf, or have a couple of vodka sodas at a party and drink some wine with (and maybe after) dinner. Well this new study below actually says moderate drinking (especially red wine) can actually improve your odds with PC. I’m sure all the smart guys here will explain why this study is wrong, but I’m gonna go with it and continue to enjoy my fricken life a little, albeit without guilt anymore. I suggest y’all do the same.....CHEERS BOYS (and gals)!!!!

Middle of the night here. Just reading this. I hurt like hell. Since being diagnosed 3 years I have lost 2 lbs. Been on the Zytiga/Lupron fun for 7 months. Saturday afternoon it was 2 light beers and a burrito for me.

Three weeks ago my wife wanted PF Chang's for dinner. We shared a bottle of wine more expensive then our meal. Feels good to be normal every now and then.

My next indulgence I WILL raise my glass to you Schwah!

I was strongly warned off metformin if consuming more than 1 or 2 drinks. Not a problem for you?

I don't recall seeing anything prohibiting moderate alcohol consumption if your liver function is good. I have a glass or two of red wines twice a week, and an occasional beer here and there. Enjoy!

An 85-year old man came to his doctor.

"I don't drink, I don't smoke, and I don't chase women. What do I have to do to live to 100?"

The doc answered

"You don't drink, you don't smoke, and you don't chase women. Why do you want to live to 100?"

It's a short ride and the same end for all of us, PCa or not. Make the most of it.

Since starting on Fetanyl patches for pain about 2 years ago I have given up alcohol. Now, I have an Odouls or other non alcoholic beer, so idon’t miss the beer. I do miss a scotch and water. Anyone know a good nonalcoholic scotch substitute ?

I frequently bump into my Oncologist in our local pub. I said to him “I’m only drinking because it lowers testosterone”. He replied “Yes, after about 10 pints” “Well give me a chance, I’ve only been in 15 minutes” I quipped.

Seriously, I enjoy a drink, 3 pints of finest German Helles lager twice a week. Certainly makes life more interesting socially.

I think You’re on the wrong site my friend. This site is for Prostate cancer not pancreatic cancer. I can say that exercise including strength training is very important with all cancers.
