Been on Lupron for 3 months

Ive had psa and T tests done each month

April PSA 0.19 Test 20

Testosterone went up in one month

Thoughts on the increase?

Cause /reason?

Testosterone values have some varaibility. The important thing is that the testosterone is at castrate level and the PSA is going down.

My understanding is that you can experience a Testosterone flare if you don't take Casodex with Lupron. I don't know your diagnosis and what the treatment plan for you is. You might look into triple blockade ADT, with Lupron, Casodex and Avodart, and raise it with your doc, if appropriate.

Don't be afraid to seek second opinions, especially if you feel you are not receiving enough information or if you are not experiencing informed consent about your treatment. All oncologists treatment centers are not equal.

Thx Nal!!!

Stay healthy

When you first start lupron, T values of 20 or less will give the same results.

While I was on Lupron for 18 months I was being treated locally in Kansas City as well as Mayo tracking my progress. That mean two sets of labs every 90 days. My local urologist and I would schedule our PSA and testosterone tests for the week prior to the next Lupron shot, one time Mayo sent me their lab kit and wanted it done a few days after my Lupron shot. Stupidly I didn't argue and had the labs done, sent them to Mayo, when they posted my results testosterone had climbed to 25 though PSA remained undetectable. I called Mayo and they said I could be experiencing castrate resistance with the rising testosterone, not what I wanted to hear! I thought about it and realized it was more likely the flare associated with the Lupron shot and sure enough, subsequent labs for the duration of my 18 months of ADT had my testosterone at <3.

After that, I never let Mayo dictate the timing of my labs, I determined that.

I too am at T<3. ........true castration club . Yoo-hoo.

What are the T values? Hormones do vary for lots of normal causes. Lupron only cap the testicles, the adrenals and minor sources still continue producing a small amount.
