Help, I'm worried about this......

I thought I was making good progress with pain management but last Weds Chemo kicked off this neuropathic pain or breakaway pain, it's quite intense and 3000 mg prescribed Paracetamol/codeine and 200mg of Tramadol, this is effective for the normal pain but with this breakaway pain these pain killers have no effect at all. Oncologist prescribed Neurontin, I not sure if these are working yet but this drug is used more wildly for Epilepsy!!

My biggest concern is permanent damage, after a couple of days of this pain, I struggle to walk normally and lot of movement pain, I don't know if this is neurological damage or just that my leg muscles took a beating, I can also get these pains away from Mets site in thighs/legs, places like my arms where my original PET scan showed nothing.

Has anyone been through this type of pain and can share their experience and help me stop worrying about something I maybe don't need to. Thanks

I have little recent experience with this kind of pain. The neurontin may work well to get rid of the pain. I took gabapentin which worked pretty well for me. Now for pain and anxiety I vape MMJ and it works quite well. There are lots of anecdotal claims of success and if you can get it legally it is definitely worth a try. If you have an MD prescribe it, he/she should be able to tell you what MJ strains to try.

ANother thought: 600mg of ibuprofen and 1000mg of acetaminophen. Not to be taken for too long, but many nurses and doctors say it is better for that kind of pain than anything else. It works well for me.

Good luck!!

I just posted this a few minutes ago, for the prior topic.

I've had peripheral neuropathy in both feet before my Pca. I've been taking one Neurontin/Gabapentin 600mg after breakfast and one after dinner for many years. It's worked for me or since I've had the neuropathy for so long, I may have gotten used to the pain. As I write this I think about my feet and suddenly I feel a bit of the neuropathy. "What a revolting development this is".
