"Hazardous Duty" Pay and Death Gratuity for Clinical Trials?

I have sometimes pondered the bravery and sacrifice that Clinical Trial patients and their families endure as they participate in Treatment - type clinical trials for new drugs and drugs combinations, from Phase I trials to Phase III trials, especially.

Their life and death situations are often just as immediate and poignant as military service is for some of our service men and women in combat zones, while on active duty, and even unto death while in service.

Should some version of the military's Hazardous Duty Incentive Pay and the military Death Gratuity program be adopted by appropriate legislation/regulation/financing involving the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office for Human Research Protections and Clinical Trials Institutional Review Boards for select patients who bravely sacrifice to participate in Treatment-type Clinical Trials?

In one trial I did receive payment for my participation. I was not a lot money but it pay for my transportation to and from appointments.

It would spur more participation in my opinion...how many think about it and say," If I join that trial, and die....Who will take care of my family??" I agree with the idea...

I don't know if clinical trials have been characterized properly. It can be a real opportunity. It depends on the parameters.
