Lost effectiveness of meds

In my fight against aggressive prostate cancer these past 17 years (I had been given 5-9 years to live two years in this battle) Proscar with Casadex and now Lupron (the latter I've only been on for nine months) have lost their effectiveness. My numbers are doubling every three months. Current PSA numbers are 6.67 so I have some time to explore for the next three months until I met again with my medical oncologist. My daughter-in-law has a family member who has the same thing that I have but his numbers have been stable for years using THC/CBD oils. Does anyone have any knowledge in this area? Michael

The next step is usually a second line hormonal (Zytiga or Xtandi) while continuing Lupron. Sometimes stopping Casodex will lower PSA because the cancer learns to feed on it.

Yes, my husband's onco said the same thing - but not everything follows for everyone, didn't for my husband (who doesn't have prostate cancer anyway but is being treated with same drugs).

Good luck Michael.

Do you have more info about this family member using THC/CBD oil? How much, ratio, and knowing more about his prostate cancer (Gleason, mets, what therapy done) before knowing if it is a similar case.

I agree with Nalakrats. I know of no known trials that show good response to THC and CBD. That said, I use a 1:1 mixture (vape) and also a fairly pure CBD vape to get to sleep, stay asleep, and avoid pain. It seems to help although the MMJ is pretty darn expensive here in Florida. I am 7 years out, been on ADT for all of that time except for a 1 year vacation that showed a 2 month doubling time. I do recommend the THC / CBD combo for sleep and pain, but I don't believe it works well to reduce PSA numbers, or even slow their growth. Good luck, and hit with everything you can, as soon as you can.

As usual, well put, if I say so myself... (am I, using too many commas?)
