As Tall Allen pointed out to me a few months ago, zometa and Celebrex combined (but neither alone) were shown to reduce deaths on men with metastatic PC over 20% with relatively minor risks. I started the combo 3 months ago with my MOs blessing and I’ve experienced zero side affects to date. In fact there’s added benefit of increased bone density (a frequent problem for men on ADT) and the feeling no pain that Celebrex seems to bring . See article below. mdedge.com/oncologypractice...
Then I came across this article ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl.... Which (if I read it correctly) showed in mice that Celebrex along with Lipitor seemed to have a synergetic affect on killing cancer cells. No phase 3 clinical trial yet, but Since many of us are already on statins anyway , and there had been a trial showing the benefit of zometa and Celebrex (for metastatic men) there could be an added benefit of using zometa/Celebrex combo because you’re using the Celebrex with a statin. That’s assuming any statin would work in similar ways as Lipitor. I’m thinking of asking my dr to switch me from simivastin to Lipitor. I welcome the thoughts of the many guys on this site more knowledgeable than I on all things PC.

my GP suggested red yeast rice, about 18 yrs ago, after the statin controversy, although he'd Rxed Simcor (simvastatin+niacin), which worked like a charm reducing my high cholesterol and triglycerides. The rice also worked like a charm, since it naturally contains monacolin K, identical to what lovastatin delivers, but probly bonded to a bunch of enzymes and nutrients not found in what Big Pharma sells. i'm presently on casodex, proscar and flomax, with PSA down <0.1, and feel kidneys are safer this way. Dunno if PCa is being killed or just sent into suspended animation, sorry.
doctor-bots run the same tired argument at me, that vitamin companies aren't reliable and even if they are, there's no way to tell how much monacolin K is in each capsule of rice. All i know is i'm seeing the same choles. and triglyc. levels as with simcor.
Hai, On looking at some of the old posts, I discovered your posting on Zometa+ Celebrax protocol. I take Zometa every 6 months for my bones since am on hormonal manipulation. Could add Celebrex it seems and live longer. Please advise on the dosage you are using.
Yes I add 2 200 MG pills of Celebrex to my zometa. If you click the links in my original post, you will see that the clinical study showed a 24% decrease in deaths for hormone sensitive newly diagnosed metastatic PC patients. Interestingly neither med alone was any help.
