Recent blood test

My last blood test has shown that I'm now anemic. I'm currently taking Lupron Xtandi

Avodart & Metformin.

No recommendation from my oncologist how to deal with the condition.

It's a common side effect, and as Nalakrats points out, a predictable consequence of castration.

If your oncologist won't address a toxicity associated with your therapy, get a second opinion! That's always sound advice, but an onc who won't deal with problems their treatments are causing is a red flag.

You didn't mention the severity of the anemia. I get it too, but so far it hasn't been dangerous. I definitely notice it during cardio workouts. My oncologist mentioned using erythropoietin if my hematocrit got too low.

That stuff works! Ask my hero, Lance Armstrong. He showed that it not only works, but didn't cause any dangerous side effects. All while he was showing his back to the rest of the cyclists in the Tour de France - 7 times.

It depends on how anemic you are. Lack of testosterone discourages the production of red blood cells. The first thing to try is increasing your cardiovascular exercise level - oxygen deficit encourages production of red blood cells. This is why elite athletes train at high altitudes. You can get tested for iron and Vitamin B12, but that is probably not the cause since the lack of testosterone is a known cause (Do not self-medicate as too high levels may be toxic). If your hemoglobin level is extremely low, your doctor may wish to prescribe erythropoietin.
