Clinical trial Xtandi and Keytruda

My husbands oncologist has suggested a clinical trial. Xtandi plus infusion of Keytruda every 3 weeks for 2 years. Has anyone heard of this? Scary side effects from Keytruda it seems, but makes sense to boost immune system to fight. PSA now up to 8.7, has been on Zytiga for 3 years with great result now failing. He has to stop Zytiga and Onco said don't panic is psa jumps to 12 before we start trial in January. Options are just Xtandi, or chemo, so scared.

In order for the keytruda to work you must have the correct genetic markers. I suspect you will need to do some genetic testing before they will let him into the trial..When Zytiga fails, there is little chance Xtandi will work effectively or for very long. This trial must have a name and a trial number. Please post them if you can..Is the trial location nearby to where you live ?

The trial is MK 3475-365 study sponsor, Merck sharp & Dohme, at Rutgers Cancer Institute in New Brunswick NJ We live in NJ so convenient. He had Guardant testing, plus another test that apparently showed he would benefit from Zytiga or Xtandi. He did very well on the Zytiga, but obviously with psa of 8.7 and rising, no longer working. I am concerned with side effects of both Xtandi and Ketruda also going for these infusions every 3 weeks for 2 years!! Not sure what to do at this point. He has been fighting for 7 1/2 years with Gleason 8/9 and psa of 22 and feeling good, hate to see him now feel horrible unless it will keep this monster in check

As I've posted here ad nauseam I am being treated for stage IV Melanoma of the lungs besides my Pca. I have had 15 treatments with Keytruda and it's working. I did NOT have any side effects from these treatments. Each treatment is $30K.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Thank you John, and good luck to you. Since this is clinical trial the Keytruda will be free, thank God as we couldn't afford otherwise

Has it helped PCa or only melanoma?

Melanoma...

I asked both my Pca and Melanoma Oncologists whether or not the Keytruda would be beneficial with my fight against Pca? Both said NO.
