Are there any supplements that can be taken to help offset the fatigue caused by lupron and zytiga?

Exercise, not supplements.

TA

I exercise daily- combo of aerobics and resistance training- but I still need lots of sleep. My trainer said b-12 sublingual helps with energy. There must be something else as Nal says that increases energy and decreased fatigue!

See my first reply.

For me, exercising (weights and battle rope) has cut down the fatigue immensely! Used to take naps throughout the day, not anymore. I've cut down on carbs and making sure protein is the main portion for meals.

Also, starting taking L-Arginine (2110 mg capsules), 3 per day. This is just a supplemental, think the daily 6330 mg helps a bit, only when exercising...

I've read that if you're over 40 L-Citrulline works better than L-Arginine

Interesting, why is this so, they both end up doing the same thing?

Exchanging information, this forum is so awesome...

Exercise. Every day I do between 6.5 and 7.5 miles walking at a good pace.

My mets in the bones make me dumb to do weights

Exercise is probably the best.. but sometimes my husband finds that ginseng helps perk him up. At home I will give him a cup of the four sigmatic Lion's Mane Elixer.. with a little extra cinnamon thrown in. Here is the web site us.foursigmatic.com/product... If it is a really bad day I will throw in some of their Cordyceps - us.foursigmatic.com/product... These are usually less expensive on Amazon. I try to switch things up for him. He has also lifts and says that this has helped too.

Hugs and prayers and sending energizing thoughts!

My husband doesn't take supplements. He deals with fatigue by running 3-4 times a week, walking three miles on the other days, taking a nap every afternoon. He is fatigued from his disease and from Lupon but still pushes himself with exercise. He's not on Zytiga yet, but soon will be so fatigue may get worse.

When mainstream studies said vitamins, baby aspirin, and calcium were ineffectual, he stopped taking them. He still takes Vitamin D. Interestingly, and weirdly, despite being on Lupron again, which is usually bad for bone density, his bone density now is better than it was four years ago when he was taking calcium! Maybe it's a testing error, but he's out of the ostopenia range at the moment. We've always followed a Mediterranean diet, but he'll never be a totally plant-based guy.

Husband 70 yrs (74 now)

pacemaker; Agent Orange 6-9/14: blood in urine; DRE suspicious

biopsy 11/14: G 9 (4+5), PSA: 3.32 high Gleason, low PSA, PNI involved

11/14: Lupron taken for 33 mos and currently on Lupron again after a year hiatus.

6/15: 9 wks IMRT

9/15: .14

1/16=.093

4/16=.079

11/16=.05

(nadir)

2/17-5/17=.05

11/17=.08

2/18 .20

4/18 0.98

6/18: 3-4 bone mets

7/18 3.29

8/28 9.0

Lupron re-started

Zytiga planned 12/18

In my 5th year of Lupron I was feeling like an old man (I am 73 years old). I had no energy,

I did three things. I started taking Vit B 12 under the tongue at bedtime, and when I awakened I felt 5 years younger. I was snoring at night and did a sleep study. The Doctor gave me a CPAP machine which raised the oxygen level in my body to 98%. I used it in the afternoon when I took a nap. Finally, I had poor kidneys and I found out that the kidney releases a hormone that releases Red Blood Cells from your bone marrow. So I was taking iron because my hemoglobin kept going down, but that made no difference. My RBC count was 9.6 and I was tired all of the time. I found out that there is a synthetic hormone called Procrit, and now my hemoglobin is 11.3, and I feel much better. I no longer am on Lupron and my kidneys are getting better. Exercise helps with circulation and lets you sleep better. Good luck to you.

A great effect from the b 12.. and procrit.nice job finding that out. You have one more year on adt than I. Good progress with you kidneys.

I used Vit B-12 2000 IU at bedtime chewed up and I left it in my mouth as long as possible. It can absorb under the tongue, but can be destroyed in the stomach. Also, buy the new form of cobalamine "HCl" not the previous cyanocobalamine. They thought the cyano- form would not be destroyed by the stomach, but it is. Then they started injecting the cyano- form (B-12 shots) for a lot of money. Just chew up the new type and let it absorb in your mouth. It is available at most vitamin stores.

My father was told he had a "rare" form of anemia and was tired all the time (he was 89 years old). He also had kidney disease and when his creatinin levels were over 3.0 his kidney doctor started him on Procrit shots. He felt much better and his "rare" anemia is disappeared! I had the same experience. My creatinin levels went up to 5.6 and I started Procrit, but then they took me off of Lupron and my kidneys are getting better! My creatinin levels are 2.7 and my hemoglobin levels are up to 11.3. I no longer feel tired like I did. They no longer give me Procrit shots (which cost $46 each on medicaid). So just keep truckin'.

Awesome, I love to ride bike, so many people try to to stop me, they say is bad for the prostate. Well, don't think I'm disturbing the cancer cells much, maybe can squash a few of them while riding...
