We were told all at once and it says that in lit. Our experienced is that bedtime was best. However, someone posted that it is best to take them at 6 pm.

I take mine at once in the evening.

I take four pills all at once and in the evening just before bedtime. Xtandi (enzalutamide) does cause fatigue and a general feeling of drowsiness so it is much better for me to take them at night, otherwise I might be taking a lot of naps during the day.

i researcher who treated my husband during a clinical trial for XTANDI said take them all at once...just take them at the same time of day each day...morning, noon, or night.

My husband was told to take the four together in the morning and about one to two hours away from food. So he would take them at 6AM or 7AM and then have breakfast two hours later.

The packaging says food doesn’t matter.

Hello Blair77. On the 29 June you posted an article regarding survival rates with Lu 177.

This article appeared to be a "cut and paste" from another article and was not referenced. I have searched the internet but cannot find this article.

Are you able to post a reference to the source of this article as I will be talking to my oncologist in the near future and would like to be able to quote the source.

I am not sure about my profile on HealthUnlocked in case you feel you need to contact me individually just ask in a post..

I was instructed to take all 4 tablets at once, and aim for the same time every day. With or without food, apparently doesnt matter.

I take all 4 in morning before breakfast.

4 all at once before bedtime (usually 10 pm).

I am on a drug trial with xtandi. I was told to take all four pills at the same time, just take them at the time every day. I choose after dinner, that way any side affects would not interfere with any activities during the day. Did you doctor say to them on an empty stomach? If so wait two hours after dinner.

My husband takes all 4 in the evening (same time daily) Causes fatigue

I had to change to nite time also. I had to drop the dose to 2 pills because of side effects.

I take my Zytiga all at once first thing in the morning, if I tried split doses I’d probably forget to take one.

I have always taken 4 at once just before bedtime.

Best wishes. Never Give In.

David 20451

Interesting to hear from someone who has been on Xtandi for 4 years. How has it worked for u? Has the dr changed the dose over the years? Has he discussed resistance, especially Re dose vs time taken?

I have been on Xtandi since feb 2016

EdBar profile image
EdBar in reply to podsart

I've been on it for just over 3 years. PSA still undetectable at this time. I reduced the dose at the advice of Dr. Sartor and Myers due to increased SE's the longer I was on it.

Thanks

What dose r u on now?

David20451 profile image
David20451 in reply to podsart

First diagnosed 11/2000. It has worked well. Dosage remains the same. Been through so many treatments that I expect it to fail at some point. Never know though. Just prior to starting Xtandi had SBRT to a large iliac lymph node. Then Provenge.

podsart profile image
podsart in reply to David20451

Have u been on Zytiga?

Provenge might be key help. How was that process-assume during Xtandi period?

David20451 profile image
David20451 in reply to podsart

Time line - PSA rising on Zytiga, had several good years - 3 high dose SBRT radiations - Provenge - then immediately started Xtandi. Not certain if Zytiga would not have worked again but was willing to move to Xtandi. At the same time stopped Lupron (which I really hated).

podsart profile image
podsart in reply to David20451

I hear you re lupron

How difficult was the provenge process? Needed port installed?

podsart profile image
podsart in reply to podsart

Would u ever consider PSMA treatment

David20451 in reply to podsart

It looks like a promising approach. I'll ask MO his opinion next visit.

David20451 profile image
David20451 in reply to podsart

Pretty exhausting. Not unbearable. First two I was thinking it was a piece of cake. By the third I'd had enough!

podsart profile image
podsart in reply to David20451

by third "had enough" =tired you out, pain, other?

so no port needed

David20451 profile image
David20451 in reply to podsart

No port. Good veins. Just tired and cranky. Sometimes in the chair for four hours.

I take all four once a day. My oncologist and pharmacist were both very clear on following the instructions.

I take Prednisone and Lanzaprozole before breakfast, then 4 Zytiga (Abiraterone in the UK) tablets at 11am, followed by lunch around an hour later. I have the alarm set on my phone everyday as a reminder for the 11am.

6.5 years so far and PSA still immeasurable from dx of 571.

My dad takes 2 500mg pills once a day at 3am on an empty stomach and goes back to bed.

Olivia007 profile image

Zytiga does come in 500 mg so u only need to take 2 pills a day to get to 1000mg ask ur doctor because my dad hated taking 4 pills plus the prednisone plus his medicine for all his other ailments.

Just had a conversation w/speciality pharmacist and MO about this very subject. Was advised that pills must be taken at the same time as med (zytiga or xtandi) is a "targetting med" and you want the FULL function/targetting happening at full strength, NOT an "up/down".

I started at 4 Xtandi / day with water in the evening, then 3, now 2. I take them right after dinner. The side effects were so bad for me that I had to cut back. Now I find fewer side effects and feel much better during the day, especially in the morning. I used to sleep over 12 hours every day, now just under 12, and better sleep.

Not sure if it is related, or maybe even the cause of my better sleep, but I started using straight CBD Oil (from CBD Pure - there are lots of other outlets) about 45 minutes before bed. I crash out totally after an hour or so. I love it. Best sleep in a year of more on a consistent basis. No longer smoking "straight" CBD. Sublingual works so fast.

I’ve been taking my 4 at bedtime - right after brushing teeth - since May 2014.

I take a 3 mile, one hour walk ever morning than I take 4 Xtandi pills between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. I get fatigued and take a nap once in a while but I am sleeping better at night than I have for a very long time. Fight the fight and don't forget to live your life.
