Alkalinity effect?

Has anyone had any experience or read any studies that indicate that using baking soda to increase PH levels has any effect on prostate cancer growth?

So many posts on this.

Try it if you want along with standard medicine. May or may not help.

Look it up on Wikipedia and quackwatch.

It is utter BS.

You cannot change your body’s Ph under any circumstances. It is fixed by homeostasis. Your stomach also contains pure hydrochloric acid, which instantly negates any alkalinity. It’s just another quack diet.

Google this and see how many articles there are on this topic, many of them uninformed, and others self-serving, to sell a product or program.

I am still skeptical about the value of baking soda to slow PCa progression, although there are a couple of small studies that indicate that it might have some effect. One of them suggests, instead of using baking soda, use a proton pump inhibitor like omeprazole which reduce the amount of acid your stomach produces. Of course, this class of drugs has its own side effects including possible kidney damage.

Part of the problem with baking soda is that your body seeks to find a state of homeostasis, and pH varies slightly in different parts of your body. Normal blood pH is generally just on the alkaline side (around 7.4) of the pH scale. Also, the stomach naturally produces acids to help us digest food, and is much more acidic than the rest of the body. So, I gotta ask, (just a stray thought) if the excess acid causes cancer and cancer progression, wouldn’t most of us get stomach cancer?

As far as pH testing, if you do it based on a urine sample, keep in mind urine is naturally slightly acidic at around 6.0, so it is likely not an accurate indicator of your blood pH.

Using baking soda in moderation certainly won’t hurt you. How much it helps you stop cancer progression is still being studied with variable and conflicting conclusions.

Just don’t ever use it as a substitute, to replace standard, approved PCa therapies.

All this is just my non-medical opinion for what it’s worth. 😎

Here we go again? Baking soda or Baking powder... Baking soda if you're baking a cake and make sure it's at 350 degrees.

Good Luck and Good Health.

The whole alkaline and not alkaline thing and cancer is a common discussion on alternative medicine groups. My husband agrees that you cannot really change your blood pH much.(if at all) You could try it. cancertutor.com talks about it. I would use traditional medicine along with it. Our integrative doctor said that since my husband was eating plant based and juicing he did not need to worry about it.. the baking soda would not make a difference.(It was nice to cross something off of my to do list)
