Implications of PSMA directed therapy
I’m staring Lu177-PSMA at UCLA in a couple of weeks.
Is this part of a clinical trial & did it start a while ago? My husband just got his 2nd treatment of taxotere & really only has chemo & radium 233 in his arsenal of prostate cancer fighting drugs. I’ve been trying to see if he might be a candidate for Lu177-PSMA. Just from my early investigation into this drug I see that you can go to Germany & Australia & maybe a couple of other countries for treatment, but was really interested in some place in US. We live in San Diego. Thx for any info you might be able to tell me. Hawkwoman76
It is a phase 2 trial. You get randomized between 2 pretty close doses of radiation. Two doctors came out from Germany to help setup the program. The treatment is supposed to be the same as in Germany (although there are several clinics doing it in Germany so there’s probably some variations from clinic to clinic).
UCLA will stop enrolling new patients once the global phase 3 trial starts. In the phase 3 trial individuals will be randomized to treatment or a placebo.
Yes, PSMA and Choline scans both show PCa in numerous lymph nodes.
