Chemo 18 is 12 docetaxol and this is 6th jevtana. Stay the course, put next one off till 4 weeks for the Cornwall trip. The comparative bone scan showed marked decrease metastatic disease in right hip. Also on the ct many other spots were reduced. Mildly anemic 3.17 on red blood cells, whites are at 6.7, gettin nuelasta every time with Jevtana. Alk Phos though ithas been in range since the first chemo was 84 so it dropped. Before chemo it went out out of range for first time since dx in June of 06.PSA stable going from 120 to 124. All good news. Looks like I am going to be around for a while HappY Dance.
If I was diagnosed now I would have been put right on docetaxol chemo 6 short rounds and breezed through it, Woman have been doing it early in Breast cancer for 15 or more years, About 5 years ago in the Stampede trial and charted trials they discovered using early chemo in high risk patients , with initial ADT brought a better survival. Thank You! Yes for me and many others on here chemo has not been bad at all, there are some things to mitigate the side effects , that make it tolarable. Dr. Stephen Strum told me in a p2p forum back in 06 that with my stats I should do docetaxol then while the body was strong, hit it early with big gun, and combine with keto for synergy.Strum was ahead of his time .Unfornately it was not SOC then and Drs at Dana said no. Even being on ADT for over 10 years, significantly weaker/older, I still tolerated chemo well, It was definitely not the monster I had feared for over a decade.
I am also treated at Dana Farber. SBRT to met in right hip and six months of ADT (Lupron and Casodex) so far. I have my follow-up with them next week and one of the first questions is why not do chemo earlier and why not Zytiga if that is the new standard of care and shows a survival advantage?

Yeah, it's been pretty muggy here the past few days, but it can all change in the drop of a hat, it's a very narrow peninsula, and if it's raining one side, often times your can drive 20 minutes to the other coast and be in a different micro climate.

Thanks for telling me about the guy w 80 chemos, I seem to breeze right through them, right now20 hours after I am up at 530 am having coffee after barely 4 hrs sleep, may be the extra steroids. Wife held my nose to the grindstone with honeydo projects all day yesterday.
Thanks for sharing this information. This is great news and I hope you continue to progress with your treatment. I just finished my 12th docetaxol treatment. I will have a few more of these before taking a Chemo holiday, then will be switching over to jevtana. I hoping for good results from this.
I also did 12 docetaxol, psa stayed stable for a while when I went on my chemo break, I have found jevtana to be less bothersome to me than docetaxol, although it can be harder on anemia (Red Blood Cells) and nutropenia(whites) for this reason I am taking the nuelasta, where I did not need it in docetaxol. I wish you the best.

Thank you. I had always thought that chemo. marked the end of the line and I would refuse it when the time came. But it seems from following this forum and reading your upbeat report that I may have been wrong. Perhaps Chemo has improved in recent years?
Their are many different chemos, I think they have got the premeds down now and that is important. Chemo gets its bad rap from some of the early primitive chemos and patients were not given such premeds as aloxi for anti-nausea.
IN the old days , now just even 6 years ago in APC,chemo was a last ditch at the end when all else fails in APC. They have found giving it to patients earlier when the body is still strong and the cancer is weak is mobetta, even so I seemed to breeze right through the first 6 rounds of docetaxol no prob late in the game 10 years out. They also have second line chemo for apc now, that is what I am on and getting a good response.
Hi Dan, my dad was told Zytiga first, but I think chemo would be good since he's a young 72 year old. Not all docs say go straight for Taxotere but I'm worried if we don't zytiga will fail and he'll have to do chemo soon anyway.... uhg. Decisions...
He could do xtandi after zytiga. It is always good to have something to do waiting in the back pocket. For now ride the zytiga train as long as you can. Going for 19th chemo tomorrow.
Day after chemo 19.I wish I had been offered early chemo, Myers always said the key to any cancer is to somehow obtain a complete remission early on, 12 docetaxol,7 jevtana, RBC 3.07 continues to slowly drop. hemoglobin was 9.7, normal is 11.5, and they do transfusion at 8.0, so I am still doing good and they say they have not seen anyone tolerate Jevtana so well. Wbc were 4.7 on nuelasta, and in range, psa bounced to 143 from 124, but 3 months ago it was 144, so these changes are fairly insignificant and still riding the train. It was like old home week in the chemo room, we were all singing and telling stories, like we always do. I have been treated there for 12 years. One day I will have to take a chemo break and go back on xtandi. Gonna keep positive and ride the train. I just keep on keepin on, wife and I went to broiled fish dinner after chemo, and hung out with her and daughter in the evening. Some time when I get to a significant crossroads I will make a post, I feel like I am making it to the distant shore with this disease, being in my 13 year, just happy to still be here . Keep doing things , spend time with Family, and plan future trips.
Dan are their different measurements for psa? When you say 143 is that one hundred forty three? Or do you have decimal points in there? Just wondering as I read to hope for less than 4.00 . Right now my husbands is 10. But waiting for new results. Just nervous about interpreting wrong. Thank you!
