Not good news for me today.

RalphieJr64 profile image
76 Replies

My visit with my oncologist today didn't bring me the good news we're always hoping for. My last scans revealed some new lymph nodes spots. Also a 4.1 centimeter mass on my liver. I just finished radiation beam treatment. Along with my daily zytiga and prednisone. At my initial diagnosis last August, I was immediately started on casodex along with 6 infusions of taxotere. I will now stop all current treatment and in 3 weeks will start a clinical trial of oral combination, cediranib and olaparib, or just olaparib depending on my full body MRI next week. I make my peace with God every night, I also pray for all my brothers every night going through this horrible cancer that seems pretty quiet on the outside world except for sites like this.

God Bless,

Ralph

All my scans pushed back two weeks. 3 1/2 mo. since last chemo. Hate these wait and heal before scan periods. Got call Today, Dr. wants to see me. I'll try to get scheduled as soon as possible. Wish he had just said to come in tomorrow, but life can't be that easy.

I think that is a very promising trial - do they check for DNA repair defects as part of it? Did they discuss radioembolization for the liver mass?

I agree with Tall Allen. The trial looks promising. Who is doing it?

Wow! That’s my husband’s MO. We’ve just met with her twice but so far, are quite impressed. I’m sorry the news wasn’t good but hope the trial is successful for you. You’re in good hands. Prayers for you and yours, Mary

Thanks for your reply Tall Allen. I signed on the dotted line. Putting whatever faith I have left with my MO, Dr Rana McKay, John Moores UCSD Cancer Center in LaJolla CA. I have to go in for a complete full body MRI this week. I'm sure discussions will come afterwards. I'll mention the radioembolization that I never heard of.

Thank you,

I did lupron and radiation but I started doing holistic medicine too, I found out recently that Oncologist are doing integrated oncology in New York with great success. I eat apricot seeds everyday 15 seeds a day and changed my diet to , tumeric and black pepper on most of my food. I dont' eat any sugar , cancer loves sugar. intermittent fasting can slow down the cancer , don't eat after 6pm for 18 hrs. till lunch time. but don't do it everyday, maybe 2 or 3 times a week. I would say the apricot seeds have a lot negative attitudes about it, but I did my research and decided that there was some substance to it , now this is my belief, so please read about it. I figured that radiation and lupron got rid of my cancer because I had only one core positive but it was aggressive cancer so it was my life to decide what to do. I am still here so something is working. I believe its everything I am doing that is working like Lupron and radiation two protocols to attack the cancer. but I believe we have become knowledgeable to survive. my psa has stayed at .1 for 2 different test and I want to keep that way. integrated oncology is what they all should be doing , my oncologist said I could eat anything I wanted because I had prostate cancer, that shows me they are not wise to nutrition and she should be doing integrated oncology.

God Bless

Thank you for your reply. Where do I get apricot seeds? It's wonderful that what you are doing is working wonderfully for you. If the mass on my liver metastasized from my prostate cancer, I would still have hope. If it's a new cancer, I'm pretty much done.

Thanks again Robert

A new cancer doesn't mean you are done! I had a prostatectomy (gleason 10) Oct 2016. Followed with lupron and casodex. Then this last September, 2017, I got the news I had stage four lung cancer - NOT a metastasis from my prostate! I am a life long non smoker growing up in a non smoking household, so that was a shocker! So am now in chemo for my lung cancer (tumors are shrinking in response to chemo!!), prostate cancer taking a back seat for now. So please don't throw in the towel, there are many wonderful new drugs that can work. My quest is to live long enough some researcher will come up with a new drug that will better help me and all others going down our path. hang in there!!

j-o-h-n my lung stuff is adenocarcinoma. I am doing chemo - avastin and alimta for now. Have had gemcitobine ( caused a lung injury helping to create exacerbate pulmonary hypertension so off gemcitobine forever) and cisplatin. Switched to 5-flurouracil and oxaliplatin but due to not working - tumors were progressive again- and experiencing L'hermitte's they were discontinued too. lung tumors are shrinking but when i become proggresive I will be in a clinical study using Keytruda. I don't have the genetic mutations that are more easily treatable with most of the new drugs but at least I have another arrow to shoot! pray for great results for us all!! david

watch?v=ILyOECaOPyQ copy this on youtube search box,

The apricot seeds kill all different kinds of cancer and can put you on remission. here is a video and there are more videos when you go to it that promotes B17/Apricot seeds, I feel there are a lot of negative attitudes about it because the cancer industry makes it look bad for a reason they can't patent it so that is what the big pharmacy companies do, and have convinced others not to use, but I do and I am still here in remission, you have to do the research and use your own gut feeling I did and it worked for me. I wish I would have known about it before I did the conventional way, even thought the radiation and Lupron did get rid of the cancer but western medicine can't prevent it from coming back and I believe we have to learn, its my life and I will do what it takes to survive for my family. I was against the wall and knew I had to try it. start on 5 seeds a day for week and then 10 the next week. they are till you get to 15 ,they are bitter tasting so I eat a couple of almonds with them so I don't taste the bitterness from them but I read the bitterness is the medicine, plus the diet I recommended, also I have been working on getting my immune system healthy again because I believe my immune system was low and didn't catch the cancer in my prostate, I read everybody gets cancer cells but the immune system kills them before they can grow out of control, God Bless

Good luck to you ... I'm right with you. Waiting on the results of my DNA repair. So far my Oncologists is having trouble getting a lab to reply to his inquiry. I'm not sure what is driving that but this is when wondering if staying local was my best choice vice going to Emory for the large scale cancer center. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you walk this very thinly lit path of success or failure. Stay positive ...

Good Wednesday Morning RalphieJr64,

I have been in this battle for almost six years (please see bio for complete treatment history).

One Guardant360 liquid biopsy revealed an ATM defect, which enabled Dr. Snuffy Myers to prescribe Lynparza. It worked for me for about 9 months.

In September 2017, scans found numerous lesions in my liver which a biopsy confirmed was prostate cancer. Began 6 cycles of Docetaxel/Carboplatin chemo which brought PSA down from 10.8 to .4 and made liver lesions fewer and smaller.

Bottom line, do not lose hope, as various treatments are available. If liver met does not respond, Google "Selective Internal Radiation--Spheres" which was mentioned by another respondent. My Med Onc in Atlanta has used it with several patients.

Best wishes. Never Give In.

Mark, Atlanta

Thanks for sharing Ralph. I'm glad you will be on the clinical trial. Please do not give up hope. Stay strong. This community has been very helpful with advise and prayers. You are in my prayers. You are not pretty much done irrespective of where the cancer is. New drugs come up everyday. There is always hope. You will get through this. My Dad is on Jevtana with Prednisone. The Genito-urologist /Oncologist at MD Andersen informed us that he saw some lesions on his adrenal glands. And he has mets on his right hip, lumbar thoracic, a fe on his ribs and left shoulder. We are praying that this drug would work for him. He has done 4 treatments and his PSA initially was 312 and has reduced to 148. He already did 10 rounds of Taxotere with Dexamethazone. He reacted badly to it and it took a toll on him. But his spirit is strong and he stays strong everyday. He is a man of faith and always in prayers with my Mom. I was my Dad's primary care giver before my Mom took over. It took a toll on me as well. But with prayers and strong family support, I persevered.

My Mom says since my Dad started the Jevtana with Prednisone, he is not complaining about pain on those areas as much as before. We pray that this is good news after his scan mid cycle.

I speak healing unto your life. Please let us know how you are doing and how the clinical trail is working for you. I will say a prayer for you and everyone on this platform who is going through this fight. May God heal you and give you strength and hope. I send positive energy your way. Please no one should lose hope. No matter what happens, keep fighting. Only the living fights. May you all have a new song in your mouths in Jesus name, amen!

I will tell my Dad to try out the apricot seeds.

I am sorry to hear that the Beast has gone from one stage to the next. Just to give you heart, my lay perception, not supported by science, is that the Beast does not want soil its hands (paws?) with blood. it will wait or something else to do the dirty work. It intends to live and die with us, rather than kill us. Not a pretty prospect, but not the end either.
