Which supplements do you use?

Helllo everyone,

My dad has been on Zytiga for the last 6 months. His PSA is constant 2.4 for the last 3 months after the first drop from 3.8. His main complain is fatigue. Last week he had his screening and his doctor found out that 3 of his mets, 2 bone and 1 lymph node got slightly bigger. He will get Tomotherapy to reduce those mets.

What kind of supplement can you recommend him?

What do you think about following? - Vitamin D3, Vitamin K2, Dandelion root

What supplements do you use beside your treatment program?

greetings from Germany

Thank you for your feedback. I have checked your supplements on the internet. They seem to be helpful.

I have come across with one remark about the Resveratrol.

drugs.com/resveratrol.html

It has some "estrogenic activity". do you know if PCa is estrogen sensitive or not?

Modified Citrus Pectin; capsule form; Vitacost. CoQ10, L-arginine, L-Taurine; these last three for heart health.

Hello Shumaf,

I am also on Zytiga.

My PSA was nearly 800 in Feb. 2016 and now is less than 2. It was .5 and has started to slowly climb.

The supplements you mentioned seem good.

I take B12, Vitamin C, IP6, collagen, CuraMed, zymactive, apricot seeds, Udo's and flaxseed oils, and RM-10. I try to eat chili peppers with the dinner meal.

I think B12 "may" have helped a small bit with my fatigue although I just started with the Hoxsey tonic and diet and the tonic seems to now be adding to my fatigue. I was taking "Source of Life" Gold liquid vitamins before starting the Hoxsey tonic, but I quit those vitamins after starting the tonic.

Take Care,

Monty

Hi Monty,

You use quite a lot of supplements. Have you checked if they have any interactions with Zytiga?

I am trying to get such info. We don't want to undermine the effect of the treatment.

Hello Shumaf,

I agree that we don't want to undermine the effect of the treatment. We have to or should be self-advocates of our treatment...we should take charge...and be confident in our choices. I had an oncologist tell me that food has no effect on my cancer. He told me that I should eat all the sweets, red meat, and fried foods that I want. He had bowls of candy in his waiting room. He is probably a good oncologist, but I was not confident in that advice/concept and no longer see him.

Two years ago I watched my brother die from a med prescribed to him for his cancer (different cancer from mine). He was an ideal patient and didn't take any additional supplements.

I have not checked on my supplements, but I did let my oncologist's nurse know about them and she did not indicate any problems with them.

Take Care,

Monty
