Two years since last chemo

Hey, this came up on my FB memories and I had forgotten. I had my 15th and last chemo 2 years ago and I brought a bottle of Chandon for my chemo team. All is good so far - PSA at 0.2 from 840. Testosterone at 41 even with last Lupron shot on 03/31/17.

Keep on keepin on!

Congratulations, this is great news!!! I have had my 4th Chemo treatment so far and hope for similar results. What Chemo drug did they use for your treatment?

I had Taxotere every 3 weeks @ 75 mg/m². After 6 sessions the PSA was still in teens and MedOnc saw that I was tolerating it well and told me he would continue until it plateaued or I said "enough". I fasted 2 days before each session: scientificamerican.com/arti...

My best to you an your journey

I am about to begin chemo treatment and would appreciate it if you could share the nature of your fasting.

Hello, I had chemos at 8am on Thursdays and I had a big breakfast on the Tues. I would then sip on tomato, curry, veggie broth thru the next 2 days. I would have black coffee and diet green tea in the am also. I do marathons, so my body is used to going for long periods without solid food. A fast is under 500 cals/day. The theory is that normal cells go into a protective hibernation mode and kinda shut down. Cancer is voracious and is not adaptive typically to do that. So, your normal cells stop eating and then you take chemo and that will spare those cells a lot of the side effects. Fasting may reduce IGF-1 which may also benefit.

We are so happy for you. And so happy to read this. I think often we are scared that Chemo treatment means that we won't live long because it weakens the body and so forth. But it doesn't have to be that way and it is good to be reminded of that by people like you. Mel and Paul.

Thank you and I hope that Paul has great success with his treatments. I was very well researched going into treatments and it looks like, so far, it has paid off!

Please check my previous posts for the other meds/supplements I'm also on.

Merry Christmas(Mele Kalikimaka) to you and your family and feel free to message me for any other questions

Hi Randy.

I would love to read your other posts on the forum. I will have to sit down and figure out how to access old posts on this forum. I have never done it.

Mel.
